Chapter 51: ...
Tara
Could you really blame me?
First off, I'm ADHD... Secondly; I just came back to life after dying for the second time, and third; that house was freaking me out, so naturally I wanted to check it out. My feet swept me off, Nico trailing behind. I just hoped that it was unoccupied, that way the two of us would have a nice place to stay. That'd be relaxing, so of course, there would be a fight.
Wherever Nico shadow traveled us to, I wasn't sure why we landed here. I saw nothing familiar or "safe" around us. Just a blank, open, empty field. I knew better than to ask questions, but from the looks of it, Nico had no clue where this was either.
As the house drew near, I sensed the water flow getting stronger. It did not feel clean, but there was a sense that said it was not exactly "dirty". My feet pulled me in that direction, and before I knew it, I had stopped in front of the door, about to knock.
"Tara, are you sure about this? I don't really feel right with us taking like-risking challenges, especially since you legitimately just died, and came back to life." He held onto my hand, and pulled me into a hug. I smelled the faint scent of our roses on his torn shirt, from where he had wrapped up his bleeding arm. If this place had supplies, we needed it...badly.
"We need the extra supplies, and you need rest. I feel jiffy and new! Just dandy! Now, let's get going and get some answers!" I kissed his cheek quickly and knocked once on the door. No one answered, like I had expected.
Nico gave me a look, I shrugged back at him. "Well, if they won't come out, we're going in." I turned the knob, and to my surprise, it twisted open with a slight creak. If it were nighttime, I would've been freaked out quite a bit, but since the sun was just starting to make its way down the sky, I decided that this place was no challenge at all.
Taking Nico's hand in mine, I entered the creaky house and made my way towards the stairs. The flowing of water was coming from the second story, to the right. When we reached the next floor, I walked straight into a bathroom. Turning the faucet water on, it began to come out in a steady stream. Sure, the water looked a little murky, but nothing dangerous. Although I did get a faint feeling; it felt like... hatred.
Nothing seemed really wrong, so I reached out to cup some in my hands and wash my face, when Nico stopped me immediately. A worried expression swept across his face. "You may say that it feels fine, but I say that we shouldn't take chances. I'm getting a weird vibe from the water. Why would this place have running water," he flicked on the bathroom light, and it glowed brightly, "And electricity, if nobody lives here?"
I shrugged, and decided to go Sherlock Holmes on this case. I exited the bathroom, and walked down the stairs to ground level once more. I found a living room, and scoured through papers, documents, and other miscellaneous things.
The only thing that I found of any interest was a singular letter that was addressed to someone with the initials, HBI.
