A Tragedy

Tired and exhausted, you walk around,

Listening to those dead of the night sounds.

You cry out for help from the few you see,

But they do not want to be,

Seen with someone such as yourself.

You're ashamed of what you've done,

And how sick you've become, oh! Your health,

Is running low, you're almost gone.

But you don't want to be.

You don't want to be known as just she

You want to be the one who people still remember

Long after your death, and to forever.

You remember that everyone makes mistakes,

And when your life is at stake,

Someone should still be there to help you out.

So you stand around, pleading with a pout.

A young man asks for your name,

You tell him, head hung out of shame.

He nods, not noticing who you are,

But takes you into his home for some R&R.

Beginning to feel better, you thank him,

And begin to leave as to no longer bother him.

He shakes his head, saying it was the best days of his life.

But you are confused, asking if he knows of your strife.

With the reply of a no, you begin to tell the tale,

And hope that he'll understand, since all else fails.

"Once, I was a young girl,

Who had never known a jewel nor pearl.

The prince took me by the hand,

And if I were to understand,

He was falling in love with me.

So I went to his castle, thinking that he and I would forever be.

But all he wanted from me

Was a little baby.

I had his child, then he threw me out.

He kept the child, and so I was left on this route,

Trying to find someone who would help me,

And you were so kind to, thankee."

He smiled, happy to help,

And you're only glad that he heard your yelp.

Yes, someone had heard and listened to you

Oh, it seemed to good to be true!

He says that he is lonely

That he could use some good company.

You stay at his home for the night,

And right through the daylight.

Never to leave, for you are both quite happy.

There is always hope behind every tragedy.
