Happy Birthday
Eleven years ago, this very day,
I walked into the hospital room, and said "Hey!
You know that you're my new sister?"
My brother and I always fought about it, lady or mister?
The gender of our new sibling was unknown,
But when I found it was a sister, I didn't feel alone.
I would have somebody to talk to, relate to,
And, sister, I would always be there for you.
We may not always get along, or see eye to eye,
But she's the reason, the one who makes me fly.
How could such a young, wonderful girl
Bring more happiness than jewel or pearl?
The answer is simple, it is of sisterly love
That I hope to always hope to be that dove
In your life who keeps you centered.
And if you ever need me, I'll keep you sheltered
From all of the wrong doings onto you.
Don't thank me, it's just what I do.
For I am your sister, and I love you.
And so does the rest of the family, too.
You'll always have someone to lean on,
If you ever just need to talk to late dawn.
Eleven years ago on this very day,
I walked into that room and said "Happy Birthday."
