Appreciating Our Perfectly, Imperfect World

A place that doesn't seem to fit

Where everything is a tad bit queer

Where the dolphins sing of praise from space

The children sit patiently still,

As does the rest of the world.

Try to imagine a place that is

Completely different than the world that you know.

Starbucks doesn't exist

The latest technology is fire.

Organic food is cheap and sold quickly

McDonald's is an expensive and healthy luxury.

Everything seems to get along just fine there,

It stills so tranquil and still,

But I would not want to live there.

No one ever fights, not even about the simplest things

Everyone has the same thoughts and ideals

No one is unique

In fact, in this place, everyone is created in gray and white

Boring without a splash of the rainbow to give them personality

It is inspiring how there is no violence or war

But I would not want to live there.

The chickens scream out of delight

When the farmer decides it is their time to die,

So that the humans can survive.

Though it was like the humans did not want to survive there, either

The look in their eyes is blank and their words are as cold

as an ice box in the middle of Antarctica.

They were practically dead.

When it came time for the humans to die,

They smiled like children receiving candy.

A look far more frightening than any horror movie.

I would not want to live there.

Their world sounds perfect, interesting, and different.

Different in the way that nothing is different.

Even the most perfect of places have their flaws

Nobody is happy

Appreciate the small things in this world - on this Earth -

that makes you happy

Filming a video with your friend or a petty argument over which

characters belong with who.

Take into consideration the smile on your face when these happen,

And although things may be tough at times,

By the end of the day, a spotlight will shine down on you saying,

"You have made it through another day.

You have ceased and conquered."

Now this is where I'd like to live.
