Author's note: Thank you guys so much for reading!! After this chapter, all the following parts have been just ideas without much structure. I LOVE comments. I love the feedback, using it to help my immature writing skills. Now back to the story . .

Lucas' challenging smirk is unwavering towards Kai's mother, whose facade threatens to collapse.

Apollo, the sun god.

Of course! As an ice witch, she would be extremely vulnerable to him.

"Just follow my lead." Kai tells him. Jumping in attack, Kai grabs water from the lake to carry her body on a floating surf board, as well to use as a projectile.

Lucas follows suit, for the second time that day, which must've been some sort of record for him, and gathers a ball of light to his hands.
Lucas reaches her mother first, twisting one of her arms back.

Kai's mother screams in agony. Her arm sizzles and with a sickening crack, it falls clean off. Blue liquid gushes from her open wound that could only be her blood.

Kai uses her distraction to push her into the lake. But at the last second, her mother creates an ice whip that wraps around Kai's bad leg, and pulls her down with her.
Water begs for her attention as it slides over her body pulling her into its depths.

Kai kicks for the surface, her legs cooperating and launch her up. The rope around her leg is still intact though, and she realizes this at the last second. It pulls her back down deeper into the darker water.

Her mother scratches her face with her one hand and kicks her in the stomach.
Kai's head starts to swim, and her chest contorts. No longer able to hold her breath anymore, Kai involuntarily takes a deep mouthful of water.

She can breath!

Taking a couple deep breaths, Kai looks around for her mother, who surely cannot breath.

Ha! Wait.  . . Where'd she go?

Kai spins around surveying the bottom of the lake. Her mother had been down here only moments before. And Kai knew down here like the back of her hand, from the small swims she would take sometimes, but never really tried to breath.
Her blue ended hair floats around her like she's some kind of mermaid or something. Which is technically true.

Focus Kai. She tells herself, kicking to the surface, her leg somehow healed.

Halfway before she reaches the top, a shadow plummets past her. Air bubbles float around Noah's sinking body. One look, and Kai could tell he was unconscious.

She dives after him, boosting her speed using the current. Her gut tightens at the effort it takes to catch up with Noah, but she has to catch him before he drowns.

Kai finally reaches him, trying to pull him upwards, treading water.

Its no use, his momentum was more than she could refute.

She wraps her legs around his waist, piggy back style. Raising her now free arms in the water, she launches them up in a geyser out of the water, into midair.

Snap.
I should have thought about the trip back down. Kai curses herself, gathering as much water as quickly as possible from below them.

A big hand emerges from the lake and catches them softly.

Nausea constricts Kai's throat as she struggles to control so much water at one time.

The slight clench she may have felt earlier was nothing compared to the ripping sensation now twisting her stomach apart.

Kai sets the two of them down on the tiny strip of sand in front of her cave. Kneeling down as soon as her feet touch the ground, she vomits.
Luckily none of it got on Noah.

As she comes back to her senses, Kai hears a ringing of swords nearby.

What is this? The 1730s?

Shaking violently, she sits back on her heels to survey the area.
Nico, wielding the black sword he had earlier is locked in combat with her mother. Her weapon of ice replaces where her arm used to be.
Nico ducks and clashes his sword with Her mother's, locking together.

Both glaring the other down. Their muscles visibly trembling from the strain.

Nico slips, and her mother's sword slices down his, cutting his face. Dark red blood drips down his ghost like appearance.

"STOP IT!" Kai yells, her voice a strangled cry.

Her mother's glance darts her way for a spilt second, she moves her foot behind Nico's ankle. He stumbles back, falling backwards on the ground.

Unsteadily, Kai gets to her feet, surprisingly her leg doesn't hurt in the slightest. It must be the adrenaline. A glisten of silver sparkles by her toes.

Her necklace.

Picking it up, it shifts to its full form.
Kai turns to face her mother. She stands above Nico ready to shove the point of her arm spear into his chest.
"Take one more step and I'll do it." Her mother threatens.

Kai freezes.

Behind her, Kai sees Lucas creeping up. Trying her best not to look at him, it would only get him and Nico killed.
"I would leave if I were you." Kai tries to aim the words at Lucas without her mother figuring it out. Her mother burts out laughing.

"Dear you are in no position to threaten me!" Her arm's point creeps closer to Nico.

"And if I don't move?" Kai asks attempting to distract her since Lucas seems intent on whatever he has got planned.

"If you stay right there, then the boys will be free to leave. Before you get too excited, you have to stay at home with me." She grins. "Have everything return to the perfect way it was before."

"Perfect?!" Kai spits out in disbelief. "You call telling me I'm worthless constantly, perfect?! Worthless, stupid, ungrateful, disrespectful, selfish, and a freaking BITCH! Perfect!? You just kept hurdling all of those names at me like I'm a freaking pile of shit, and you call that perfect?!"

The wind returns with twice as much force as before.

But Kai knows what she needs to do. Lucas jumps at the same exact second that she grabs him with a wave.

Scooping up Nico, she tosses them out to the other side of the lake.

By the time she drops them, Kai's mother smacks her hard on the side of her temple.

Black spots overlap her vision.

Not again is her last thought before she crawls back to unconsciousness.
