Her skin felt like it was on fire.
It hurt ten times as worse as a normal cut would.
Kai looked down, sucking in a ragged breath, and rolled the sleeve of her jackets up."What is it? Oh-" Loki whimpered. A glowing yellow line was tracing itself over her skin, and with each inch it grew, the pain amounted even more so.
"Why is it doing that?" Loki asked, peering over the corner to see Nico still arguing with the guards.
"I don't know." Kai hissed, watching it grow as she grinded her teeth to keep herself from crying out.
"Wait, do you think it's the bond with Lucas? Do you think he's getting hurt?" Loki pointed out quietly, checking over his shoulder.
I hope not. Kai thought.
Which gave her an idea. "If it is, I think we need to send him a message." Kai said aloud, retrieving the sharp blade she had earlier."Wait woah, you're just going to cut into yourself!?" Loki panicked.
Kai nodded. "Its not like I don't know how to do it." She picked the opposite arm that had no injury.
When she was done, she smirked, wiping a trickle of blood off it.
"Try not to get hurt idiot." Loki read aloud. "You know, your handwriting is really good for the circumstances." He said, obviously sweetly oblivious as to how her handwriting had been decent with a knife.
Lucas must have healed his arm, because the writing soon faded off.
And thus begun the process again. A single tear squeezed it's way out this time."KAI?! IS THAT YOU?!! NEVERMIND, ITS YOU WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?" Just as she finished reading his sloppy handwriting, almost illedgeable, it too faded.
It didn't hurt as much when she did it herself, but she knew it hurt him so she tried to make it short.
"Underworld, awating a death sentence, Loki and Nico are alive for now. Hurry."
"I'm on my way, I won't forget. I promise."
"Never?"
"Never."
"Awww, isn't that sweet!" Loki nudged Kai's shoulder. She wiped at her running nose and shoved his shoulder a little.
A loud thud came from the corridor where the exit was, and the two peeked around the corner.
Nico stood, the two guards on the ground unconscious, sifting through the key ring, looking for the key that fit the lock.
Loki rushed out, and Kai followed.
"Its about time you two came round, Why'd it take so long?" Nico said gruffly.
"Sorry." Kai muttered as Loki said, "We made contact with the others. Nobody has died yet, which is good news, but we still have the prophecy to take into account."
Kai and Nico exchanged guilty glances as he found the right key.
Loki looked between the two. "Annnnd there is something I don't know, what is it?"
"Loki, I tried to tell you earlier, but you wouldn't listen. I said I'm not making it out of here alive." Kai told him again.
"How do you know? Anything could happen to any of us at any moment." Loki argued.
"You know how demigods have dreams and most of the time they're true right?" Kai said, waiting for him to nod in understanding. "Well, for as long as I can remember I've had a dream about the underworld. And something happens. I don't make it Loki, but you and Nico can."
