Kai glanced around the Poseidon cabin one last time, that is if this whole trip wasn't set up to be a failure. She picked up her worn backpack and slung it across her shoulder. Inside of it wasn't much, just her sketchbook and Chocolate the bear along with food that she has taken from her plate in the dining hall. Not that she had much of an appetite anyways.
"C'mon." Raven pulled her arm loosely, propelling her to the edge of the camp, by Thalia's tree.
Her hand slipped down to her wrist, and Kai flinched slightly. please don't notice please don't notice. Kai mentally pleaded. But of course, Raven noticed everything.
She pulled the sleeve of Percy's old hoodie up to show her newly wounded wrists.
"I thought you said you stopped doing that." the disappointment in her tone almost made Kai feel guilty.
"Some habits are hard to get rid of." Kai muttered.
"Look I know that it's hard, but could you please resist next time? You can always talk to me about what's wrong, which I assume this was because of your father this morning?." Raven asked, gently stroking the back of Kai's palm.
True, the morning after the Iris message conversation with him, Kai had been eating Breakfast in the dining hall. When suddenly, his symbol, a teal glowing, almost vapor-like, trident; appeared above her.
Nobody clapped, they just stared in awe at the symbol. Which there were more campers now than she had ever seen now that it was summer.
Saffi glared at it, as well as Kai.
He chose now instead of so many times before to claim her, right when he probably thought she was going to die, so it wouldn't have mattered.
More abruptly than she could comprehend, a second, and third symbol misted above her head.
Kai had dropped her fork, not knowing that Khoine and Kymophelia would claim her too. The Demigods around her either ran out of the dining hall, or begged her to not hurt them. As to the reason why? Kai figured they thought her as a goddess herself now.
Unfortunately, Raven had been claimed as well.
Unfortunately because now they knew it was not one of the nicer gods.
In fact, Raven's mother is the earth herself. Gaia.
The same Gaia who had tried to take over the world and kill everyone two years ago.
With that happy thought on their minds as they all went to risk their lives, the group set off past the camp's protection.
Nico had called his zombie chauffeur to drive them, so they all piled into the car.
"Just like old times." Lucas announced, and the rest of them groaned.
"If you want me to, I can chuck him out of the limo whenever." Loki evilly grinned at him.
"Like you could lift me." Lucas retorted.
"Actually, he probably can." Morgana said. Through the five months they had been at camp, Loki had been the one to change the most. Not only is he now taller than Kai, he had gained some muscle from training vigorously for this quest.
"Just let me know when." He smirked, adjusting the wide brimmed hat he wore, which resembled a sun hat.
"Do we know what we are looking for?" Noah addressed Raven.
Morgana but in, "It's not a what persay, but who. The second easiest way to heal her would be to ask the goddess Panacea, goddess of universal remedies, to bless her. She can heal any diseases or prolong life indefinitely."
