All thoughts drained from her mind as a new wave of grief overcame her body.
For some idiotic reason, Kai had been desperately clinging to the hope that Raven had made it out alive, even though she had seen with her own two eyes, three spears of venom pierced her chest.
Storm clouds rumbled above her, and rain began to pour out of the sky, drenching her in minutes.
A warm hand touched her shoulder, and it was that minute that she realized Lucas was still there, waiting for her to come.
She gulped and the rain turned to mist. She shoved her feelings down, returning them to their normal containment where she kept them bottled up.
Kai shrugged her shoulder, brushing away Lucas' hand and she set off to catch up to Nico.
In the thirty seconds it had been a downpour, the plants around her shone reflectively, freshly wetted.
Mud clung to her shoes, high top all black converse, from the dirt pathway they took back to the center of camp, the Big House.
On the floor of the Big House, on top of a stretcher is the body of the person Kai didn't want to see, but had to.
Her skin had a grayish tint, however, her clothes had been miraculously cleaned and mended, so it appeared that she was only sleeping.
Sleeping for the rest of her life.
To Kai's surprise, there were no tears in her own eyes. Just a soft feeling of emancipation.
Like she was unlocking the protective cage she kept the people she loved inside and letting Raven fly free.
Kai kissed her briefly on the forehead before summoning a raft of water to carry her.
Demigods lined out by the door on either side, Annabeth clung to Percy's hand on one side, on the other, Nico and Will stood solemnly watching her float with glassy eyes.
Two water dragons accompanied Raven's side as Kai followed behind them.
The whole camp trailed behind her, honoring Raven's sacrifice.
Once they reached the shores of the camp's beach, Kai lowered her into it's depths, letting her sink down to the bottom and be carried away by the current into the sea.
"She was a warrior even in the face of death." Lucas said while everyone watched the waves swirl where Kai had sunk her body.
"Some if not most of us wouldn't have been able to make the nearly impossible choices she made in her final hours.
Raven Nyssa kept Kai and me alive, by tossing me in the River Styx as well as successfully pulling every last one of us from the Underworld.
At the expense of her own life, she willingly jumped in her own greatest fear's way to protect the rest of us. She was the bravest demigod I had met.
We are greatly in debt to her, holding up her legacy and making her sacrifice worthwhile will be an honor." Lucas finished, his voice steady and monotonous.
The demigods stayed silent in memory of Raven.
Though Kai doubted many of them cared.
Loki knocked on the cabin three's door. He'd been worried for these past few days of Kai's solitary confinement.
She hardly came out of the cabin, and she only talked in a couple sentences when she did.
The door opened an inch and he could see her ice blue eye through it.
"What do you want?" She said, her voice soft.
"Can I come in?" He shuffled his feet and adjusted his black hat on top of his freshly trimmed reddish orange hair.
Kai opened the door a little in answer and walked back to her bed.
The room was a disaster, crumpled pieces of paper, broken pencils, and candy wrappers. One of the six beds had a certain chocolate named teddy bear on top of the unfolded knitted blue blanket.
