Kai sat on the floor of Cabin thirteen fiddling with a guitar she 'borrowed' from the Apollo kids. She began to strum a song she memorized a long long time ago.
Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosion
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong (I'll be strong)
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me
Know I've still got a lot of fight left in meKai sat there listening to the rebound of the last note, completely lost in the music.
"That was beautiful." She jumps, startled from the trance the song had put her in.
Raven stands by the doorway, with it propped open just enough for her to look through.
"I didn't know anyone was listening." Kai muttered, picking at her nails to avoid holding Raven's glance."Then you're daft." Raven pushed the door the rest of the way open showing that Nico was there as well.
"What are you doing here?" Kai glared at him.
"This is my cabin.""Oh. Right." Kai had been so used to coming here to get away from people, she hadn't thought about their argument when she walked in.
"Well . . ." Raven tapped on her legs awkwardly. "Does Percy sing to?"
Nico snorted back a laugh.
"Absolutely not.""Oh, I thought that perhaps since they were both Poseidon's kids, maybe he sang as well?" Raven said. "Or is it a girl only thing since most of his girl children are sirens. Because I heard her from the Hermes cabin and I couldn't help coming closer."
"It's possible. Raven could you leave us alone please." Nico asked abruptly.
Raven glanced between the two of them, considering his request.
"I will, but I swear if you hurt her anymore than you have already, you won't have just her to worry about." Raven spun on her heel and walked off."What do you want." Kai said gruffly as she stood, holding her guitar after a moment of silence.
"I want to apologize." He stuttered.
"It's about time." She snapped back, fidgeting with the guitar's strings.
"Listen, I'm sorry for holding back knowing that your body was deteriorating and not telling you." When she stayed silent, he continued.
"I felt as though it was my fault for giving you the knowledge about your parents and that it somehow solidified your death.
I'm not the best when it comes to handling bad news.
I can't change what I did, but I promise to never not tell you something of that large of a consequence."By the end of his speech, Kai felt her resentment towards him deteriorate.
"I'm sorry too." She said."For what?" Nico wondered.
"For overreacting, I wasted weeks that I can't get back being mad at you.
Now I only have four left according to Annabeth, it feels like . . . I'm okay with it now."
