LillyRose's POV
A few weeks have passed since Hyun-jin made an appearance in class. I alternate the days I sit with him and the boys.
Yoongi doesn't like the fact that we hang out, but Hyun-jin doesn't care. He said that Yoongi has no reason for treating me the way he does, and he's not going to avoid me or act the same way because of it.
"Hey, Hyun-jin." I smile. "Hey, LillyRose." He smiles.
"Put this on." He says, holding out a helmet. "Where's yours?" "Right here." He points to the helmet he's holding out to me.
"But what about you?" "I'll be fine. I wouldn't want your pretty little head to get messed up." He smiles.
I smile and put on the helmet. We climb onto his motorcycle. "Hold on tight." He says. I wrap my arms around him. I cling onto him like my life depends on it as the motorcycle begins to move.
.....
I've gotten comfortable on the motorcycle. The city looks so pretty at night. The lights, the buildings, the sky. It all just ties together.
He takes me to a secluded spot, a cliff. We sit down, our knees to our chest, our arms crossed on them.
"This place is beautiful." I say. The cliff overlooks the city, making me notice things I didn't notice before.
"Yeah, it is. This is my thinking spot. I come here whenever I need to clear my mind, when something's on my mind, or when I just want to get away from the world. This place, it makes me feel....safe."
"So why are we here now?" "Because I wanted you to see something you've probably never seen before, and I wanted you to see that there's a different side to me. People have misconstrued notions about bad boys. They think we're all complete, soulless animals that ravage people's feelings, but that's not the case, at least it's not with me. I'm not a player either. People always think we're all heartbreakers, but once I'm with a girl, I actually stay committed to her. I don't cheat like other guys do. I'm actually a good person, I just do things I shouldn't do."
"This place is important to you, isn't it?" "Yeah, it is." "Thanks for sharing it with me." "You're welcome," He smiles at me, and I smile back. "LillyRose, I just want you to know that I respect women. I would never hurt you."
"You seemed so similar to Yoongi, but now you seem so different."
"Yoongi and I do have stuff in common, but not everything. For instance, we both like doing graffiti and running away from cops. Running away from cops, per se, is exhilarating. But we differ when it comes to how we treat people. I'm not rude to people unless they deserve it, and I definitely respect women. I would never put my hands on them."
"I respect you for that." I lean my head on his shoulder. He smells good. He leans his head on mine.
"I'm so sorry for the way he treats you. I tried to get him to stop. Usually, he listens to me, but he's stubborn when it comes to this."
"Thanks, Jinnie. How long have you known him?" He smiles before replying. "Yoongi and I go way back, since, like, 1st grade. We've practically known each other for our whole lives."
"So that means you really know him as a person, right?" "Yeah. Sometimes, I feel like I know him more than he knows himself." "So then, do you know why he treats me the way he does?" "Now that, I don't know, but I wish I did. I confronted him about the situation and asked him why he does it, but he shut down on me and screamed at me."
"I'm sorry, Jinnie. You don't deserve that." I kiss him on his cheek, making him warmly smile. I like his smile.
"It's ok, Rose. It's not your fault. If it's anybody's fault, it's his."
"Hyun-jin?" "Yeah?" "I think you're dope." His face melts into a warm smile, the type of smile that has the warmth of fresh-out-the-oven chocolate chip cookies.
I like how this night went.
