Chapter 87

LillyRose's POV

   Jimin and I are better, I guess?  Like, we still interact like a couple, but you can tell something's off.

Anyway, I'm in Min-seo's room with her.  I have something to do for Ji-sung.

"So, Minnie Mouse, what do you think about dating?"  "As in, like, a relationship?"  "Yeah, and going on dates."

"I actually wouldn't mind having a relationship.  I would love to go on a date.  It would be so cute."

"Very nice to know."  "Wait, why?"  "No reason."

.....

It's another day of trial.  Jimin is here with me, our fingers laced together.  He looks like he's completely focused on what's happening.

"I understand that this isn't the first time the defendant has done something inappropriate with a minor who is a student?"  The judge says.

Wait....it isn't?

"People change, your honor,"  Mr. Raunch's lawyer says.

People change?  Really?  That's your defense?

"Just like people have certain desires, possibly for older men,"

Oh HELL NAH.  I know DAMN WELL he is NOT implying that I wanted that!

"Young man,"  The attorney says to Yoongi on the stand.  "Were there ever any indicators that the "victim" wanted to be with the defendant sexually?"

"What?  No, that's crazy.  LillyRose can't stand that man,"  Yoongi says, scrunching his face and frowning.  "Plus, she has a boyfriend.  He's right over there."

Yoongi points to Jimin.  "Oh, really?  Your honor, may I please call the victim's boyfriend to the stand?"

Jimin makes a shocked expression.  "Objection.  Relevance.  The victim's boyfriend wasn't even at the scene of the crime.  What does he even have to do with the case?"  The District Attorney says.

"I'll allow it.  Mr. Linsburg, you better be going somewhere with this."  The judge sternly says.

Jimin looks at me.  I look back at him.  He gets on the stand after Yoongi leaves it.

"Sir, what is your name?"  "Jimin."  "Nice to meet you, Jimin.  How's your day?"  "It would be better if I weren't in court because of a pedophile."

"Objection.  Where is he going with this?"  "Sustained.  Mr. Linsburg, you better get to the point."

"So, Jimin, you're the victim's boyfriend, right?"  "Yes."  "So, would you say you're close to the victim?"

"Yes, indeed.  Very close."  "So, she confides in you, right?"  "Yes, all the time.  It would be weird if she didn't."

"So, has she ever complained to you about the defendant?"  "Yes."  "What kind of things did she say?"

"She said that he told her she was a very beautiful girl.  She said that he looked at her weirdly.  She said that he smiled at her creepily.  She said that she felt like he was a pedophile."

"Have any complaints been filed against the defendant?"  "Not that I know of."

The defense attorney turns to the audience, making a hand gesture as he speaks.

"If the victim truly felt bothered by the defendant, why didn't she report anything?  Why keep quiet?  Maybe it's because she wanted the defendant-"

"No, it's not like that."  Jimin says, starting to sound panicked.

"Maybe it's because she wanted to get a good grade, just like the first girl."

"No, it's not like that!"  Jimin cries out.  He breaks down on the stand. 

It takes everything in me not to run up to the stand and hug him.

"LillyRose would never do that!  She wouldn't!  She wouldn't!  I know she wouldn't!  I'm sorry!"

Tears fall down my cheeks.  "Bailiff, please escort the witness from the stand."

The bailiff comes and removes Jimin from the stand before escorting him out of the courtroom.
