Sweet Sixteen

April walked downstairs into the kitchen to see Papyrus making breakfast. "Buenos Dias," seemingly out of nowhere, mariachi music began to play and Papyrus pulled out 2 sombreros. "Feliz cumpleaños!" for some strange reason, he didn't shout in Spanish, but he did in English. He put a white sombrero on April's head and a red one on his own before handing her a card with pictures of plants and a post-it note saying "look outside". Now April was curious. She walked out the back door and gasped. "It's a redwood sapling!" A baby of the world's tallest trees and the tree the town and the school she went to were named after. She saw redwoods in the forest and wished she could have one ever since she came to Earth! It was in a little pot with a ribbon tied around it and another note, this one telling her "now look out front," Closing the gate behind her, she saw a black skateboard with white roses and red wheels on it and another message. "Something's waiting on the porch" there she walked to find gear and a helmet, with yet another note. "Come back inside for another surprise," By the front door, were some seed packets on the table. April hated winter, yeah sure, it brought some fun things with it, but the cold season was like the dark ages for plants, and unfortunately, despite April's plant healing powers and best efforts to hospitalize it, her garden suffered a lot of casualties (due to not having enough time to care for it) including the basil, camellias, strawberries, lavender, lemons, daffodils, and oregano. Every one of which was in a packet on the table.

6:04 AM

Mettaton had sent May on her own hunt for birthday gifts. She was lead downstairs to find some lipstick, then out to the car where a box of funnel cake was waiting, then back inside to see a ruby and diamond crown fit for a queen, and into the kitchen with a stack of sketchbooks on the table. "Happy birthday darling," May gave him a huge hug. It was officially, the girls' sweet 16! April was a little upset that she missed the chance for a quinceanera, but Paps told her that she could have a dieciseis-ceanera. Well, whatever it was, the guys were going to make sure the girls had the best birthday ever, starting with a special Spanish breakfast: bacon and cheese omelets. After topping them with ketchup, both girls dug in, May being just a bit hesitant. After finishing, Mettaton gave May a hug. "So proud!" May's cheeks turned a little red.

10:23 PM

The party was in full swing. May had just gotten out in a game of twister and was leaning against the wall taking a breather. The day had been so amazing from the very start. And it wasn't just because of Mettaton, although he played a huge role. The whole squad has been so nice all day, showering the girls with presents and kindness. Ethan and Ari even showed up and helped decorate and get things started for the party. She spotted Mettaton from across the room joking around with Paps and Ethan. Paps was standing there with his arms crossed and a frown on his face. Ethan must have told a great joke cause Mettaton was bent over laughing. Seeing that made May giggle.

February 18th, 2:01 AM

The party had ended and the guys, with some help from Cleo's droid butler, "droid-ler" as she liked to call it, Helper Bot were cleaning up from the party. "Drivers test? But I don't want a license, plus, you'd never let me drive by myself anyway," May had fallen asleep on the couch. Mettaton carried her up to her bed and tucked her in before seeing that his battery was dangerously low. He picked up the cable, leaned against the wall, and plugged himself in.
