"Karl, what a pleasant surprise?" Dante giggled as he turned to the man, but Mia who was his demon could almost sense his alarm and fear at the sudden arrival to join their group.

"You—!" Subaru hissed, his red eyes glaring at the king.

Reiji's response was much more civil, even though everyone could hear the cutting tone to his voice, "Father, why are you here tonight?"

"It's obvious." Shu drawled yet his alert eyes were glancing between Mia and his father, "The house spirits must have informed him about the current conditions and he has come to deal with this to his pleasure."

Karlheinz smiled, golden eyes glinting. "You were always the fast one, son of mine." Reiji stiffened slightly and Karlheinz continued, "Well, Dante Leif, I am afraid of the action I must take if I find my suspicions correct tonight."

Ayato growled, "You're not touching him, not before we're done with him!"

Laito nodded at his side, green eyes sharp, as they never looked away from Mia who was still staring at their father in stunned silence.

"He's right! We'll tear him to pieces first." Subaru hissed and the rest of the brothers seemed to agree as they stayed in their tense stance.

Karlheinz's lips parted as he grinned, fangs at display, "What a day? I had never thought that all my sons would have been on the same side ever." He tilted his neck at Dante who was shifting near Mia and the green-haired man froze at the cold look in the old vampire's eyes.

"Now...where are Kanato and Ms. Komori?" He hummed as he closed his golden eyes for a moment before opening them again, "We'll let them remain hidden then. It's not like anyone can enter or leave this room now."

Reiji's eyes darted to the door on instinct before he nodded, "You're using your powers."

Karlheinz turned to Mia and his eyes softened slightly, "You were gone for a long time, little Mia." His voice turned dangerous as he continued, looking at Dante, "Let go of your control over her now."

Dante nodded as he stepped back, a small smirk pulling at his lips as if he had a secret plan no one knew about.

"You damn asshole!" Mia sneered, her breath falling out in pants from trying to fight Dante's control so far. "How dare you let your own sons go through so much shit!"

Ayato moved to take a small step towards the girl as he feared for her—the other four seemed to have thought the same as they unconsciously tried to move closer too, but failed.

"What the hell is this?" Subaru growled as he tried to move but found his legs unresponsive.

Shu gritted his teeth as he tried to teleport but found himself frozen too. Laito mirrored his expression as he glared at the white-haired vampire, "Father, what is all this?" His voice was cold and deadly, not a hint of the amusement normally heard.

"He doesn't want anyone to interrupt his little fun, right?" Mia spat, trying to take a step back but failing as the old vampire moved closer to her.

"I would not want you to interrupt now would I?" Karlheinz asked as he turned to face them all as if preparing a long speech.

Everyone stayed quiet in anticipation.

When the silence continued, Ayato growled, "What do you plan to do to her?!"

Shu raised to his full height, "Father, I take full responsibility as the family's oldest for this all, if you want to punish someone let it be me."
