Maya's pov

Tiredness. That's what seemed to loom over the group. Everyone sat at the table ready to eat dinner then fall asleep afterwards, was a request they needed and wanted. The look was in every single eye. Not one of us looked like sunshine's and rainbows.  Patricia walked into the room holding a bowl of mash potatoes while Carl and I set the table. I held a cup out while Carl poured some water.

We kept smiling to each other and I had to admit it wasn't out of this world to do it. Carl and I grown close and I had to admit, I liked having a friend for once. I realized this when I had the argument with Daryl. Usually, I bottled up my feelings, but telling Carl my anger and feelings had relieved so much stress. It was good. The door opened and in came Andrea with Shane looking worried.

" They should of came back by now." Andrea said circling the table while on the other side Shane slightly nodded.

" Yeah. They just got holed up somewhere." He said sitting at the head of the table. I sat next to Carl while playing with the empty plate in front of me, bored a bit." We'll...we'll head out first thin in the morning. Thank you."

Shane finished clearing his throat while Patricia handed him the bowl of green beans. Next I  was handed the bowl of mash potatoes which made my mouth water with happiness. I passed the bowl to Carl, but he shook his head no.

" You okay ?"

" Yeah." He said nodding his head and taking a little bit of the mash potatoes. Shane noticed the boy's expression and looked over.

" Carl, I want you to keep your head up, okay ?" Shane said noticing like I did that he was sad." Your old man, he's the toughest son of a-"

" No cussing in the house." Patricia was quick to say making Shane looked up.

" Sorry." Shane apologized making Carl smiled  and grab the basket filled with bread.

" Lori, dinner."

" She's not in there." Maggie said turning to Carol who looked confused.

" Where is she ?" Dale asked causing everyone  to go  silent. Everyone turned to one another knowing the one answer, but didn't want to say it.

" Carl, when's the last time you saw your mom."

" This afternoon."

" She was worried about Rick, asked me to look in on Carl." Andrea said, but Dale turned to her shaking his head.

" She went after them ?"

" She didn't say that."

Shane had enough , getting up followed by Carl and the others." Nobody panic. Gonna be around here somewhere."

I grabbed a flashlight walking over to Carl and running outside around the farm mostly while the others went more out into the field's and woods." Lori !" I called out aiming the flashlight in every dark place.

" Mom ?!" Carl yelled out making me turned to him seeing the worried face he held." Maya, where can she be ?"

" Carl, she'll be fine. I bet she just inside hiding somewhere or outside looking for animal kill." I tried, but Carl quickly turned to me with a slight nod.
