Chapter Thirty: Too Far Gone

Maya's Pov

" Sunshine ?"

I slowly began to wake up seeing the bright sun glare through the window. I opened my eyes and went to move some hair from my face when I saw the IV needle in my hand. I brought my hand down and ran my other hand around the needle confused.

" Stop messing with your IV." I heard and looked up to see Daryl in the corner of the cell watching me. I sat up quickly with a smile on my face seeing the man made it.

" You made it."

He laughed getting off the ground." I can say the same for you." He said before sitting on the bed and shaking his head." You gave me quite a scare."

" When do I not ?" I said earning a laugh from him.

He nodded his head before looking to his shoes." I read your letter." He said.

I looked up to him a bit uncomfortable seeing the slight anger in his face." I was alone. It was getting harder to breathe. I just didn't want to...leave the world without saying goodbye."

Daryl nodded before messing with my hair." Nah." He said getting up and shaking his head." You my friend are a bad ass. Ain't nothing gonna kill you, but you."

I laughed taking the blanket off of my body." Where is everyone ?"

" Resting. You should too." Daryl suggested, but I shook my head no longer wanting to be in the gloom ridden cell block.

" I wanna go outside." I said and stood up when my legs gave out under me slightly." Woah !" I yelped, but Daryl caught me and straightened out.

" Rest."

I looked at him before shaking my head." I'm fine." I groaned and took slow steps out of the cell. Daryl stood right behind me watching me slowly gain strength.

" Look who's up." I heard and turned over to see Glenn and Maggie were in a cell. I smiled walking over and leaning on the doorframe.

" You look better." I teased and Glenn laughed.

" I'm not dying." He answered causing me to laugh this time. Maggie smiled to the pair before looking to me.

" Thanks for taking care of him while you were in here."

I shook my head." No." I answered with a smile." He took care of me." I said getting off of the doorway and heading downstairs.

When I got outside, I groaned at the bright sun in my face and covered my eyes. Daryl lightly placed a hand on my back and guided me around before my eyes could adjust. I looked around shocked when I saw Michonne piling walkers into the cart.

" What the hell happen here ?"

" Walkers torn the fence last night." Daryl explained pointing to in the distance where some people were patching it up." Carl and Rick shot them all down. Took all night to clean up."

" Are they okay ?"

" Maya !" I heard and looked up seeing Carl running over to me. The minute he got to me, he squeezed my body tightly to him and kissed my cheek." You're okay ! I missed you so much !"
