Maya's Pov
I stood at the front gate of Alexandria squeezing Carl's hand tightly. I needed to know he was next to me and not about to be ripped away like Terminus had done. He squeezed my hand back and looked down at me with a smile and it was enough for me to feel better. I looked around the area of Alexandria seeing abandon housing and even ares of woods when my eyes fell on a girl in one of the houses.
I frowned and squinted my eyes watching Michonne past by me, but when the girl came back into full view, she was gone.
" Maya ?" Carl questioned and I turned seeing his worry only to ignore what I thought I saw.
We stopped by the gate watching Aaron hand Eric to someone for medical treatment when something rattled next to us. I instantly grabbed an arrow from my quiver and along side Daryl shot an arrow into the squealing dead possum. Daryl picked up the hairy animal with two arrows still through it's stomach.
" We brought dinner." Daryl said and I looked up noticing Aaron, Eric, and a man staring at us. The man looked at us all uncertain and might have been ready to close the gates if it wasn't for Aaron.
" It's okay." He said to the man before turning to us." Come on in, guys."
Glenn was the first to walk towards the gages and soon we all followed getting a better look of the inside. All the houses were clean. No spec of blood, dirt, or walkers stained pretty much anywhere. The gates cracked loudly behind me and I turned noticing they were closing the gates seconds after we had already arrived.
" Before we take this any further, I need you all to turn over your weapons." The man stated." Stay. You hand them over."
" We don't know if we want to stay." Rick said while holding a gun in one hand and Judith in the other.
" It's fine Nicholas."
' If we were gonna use them, we would have started already." Rick said watching Nicholas grow scared when he said that.
" Let them talk to Deanna first."
" Who's Deanna ?" Abraham questioned loudly.
" She knows everything you'd want to know about this place." Aaron answered and turned over to Rick." Rick, why don't you start ?"
Rick glanced around the group before his eyes landed on Carl and I by the gate." Sasha." He called.
I turned around moving out of Sasha's way at the sound of a walker coming near the gates. She leveled the gun to her eye before pulling the trigger and taking down the walker.
" It's a good thing we're here." Rick coldly said leading the way to Deanna's house. We all sat on Deanna's porch waiting one by one to be interviewed. I heard the door open and watched Carl with Judith leave done with their interviews.
" You can go in. She's just getting another pen." Carl said giving me a hopeful smile except I didn't have any. I was not in the mood to meet new people and especially without Carl or Daryl by my side. I got up and walked inside seeing it was a beautiful house with books, a office, fancy furniture. I walked to the living room shocked by just how real it all could be.
" Hello." A women said walking in the room with a big smile. She was in her late fifty's with bright blue eyes and very clean unlike me.
