Maya's pov

" How are you feeling ?"

I know if those words were said to me, I would give a witty answer or maybe an angry response, but it was the only thing I could ask Finnick. The minute I had woken up, I made my way to his house knowing it was his first night of rest after the Wolves attacked. Finnick's eye bags had gone deeper turning almost purple from the restless night.

I could only imagine the nightmares he woke up from began I had some myself. It felt like at every hour I jolted from my sleep only for Carl to calm me down and remind me I was safe. I knew tonight I would need to stay with Finnick this time keep an eye on things with Lucas. We walked down the streets of Alexandria trying to keep our voices low, but I knew there was no point since the walkers pounded and snarled at the walls.

" I've been better." He reported," It just when I close my eyes...I see her. I just wish I could of saved her."

I reached over placing my hand on his shoulders and giving it a squeeze," You did everything you could. You raised her well and her death is not on you or your fault. This world is cruel and unfair."

" She didn't deserve that kind of death." He slightly snarled before softly turning to me." Neither did Mandy."

I nodded my head giving a small smile" I know. Things just happen for a reason. That's all I can think about now."

" Thank you."

I frowned," For what ?"

" For being my friend." He stated with a smile," You've only known me for a month maybe and already helped me so much. The warehouse, coming out, Daisy. It like your almost too good to be true."

I laughed," You should feel honored. Usually I hate almost about everyone." I admitted.

" I saw you head inside with Carl last night." He said eyeing me from the corner.

" Last night...." I explained trialing off a bit and the memories." I just needed someone and I stayed with him. I needed him to hold me and just know everything was going to be okay."

" So are you finally going to be his girlfriend and we can all be happy with our boyfriends ?" Finnick groaned causing me to punch him in the arm.

" I'm still debating that part, but I'm more leaning to the good side." I hinted

He nodded his head," That's good to hear."

When we got to the end if the block, I stared at the flowers in my hand before looking up to Finnick seeing the guilt start to coat his eyes.

" You ready ?" I asked except I didn't get a reply.

He simply nodded his head and slowly started forward with me by his side. We came up to the grave site staring at the graves around us. Amanda Rosewood and Daisy James. Two people that didn't deserve to die yesterday and brutally at that too. I moved forward bending down to Amanda's grave and placed some roses at the heading wishing I didn't have to.

I wish Amanda had lived and she was standing by my side not making me feel incredibly lonely. Sure, I had no family for the first three years of this world and shouldn't feel sad about losing a family member, but it meant everything to me. We planned to be a family again. We planned to bake more treats and laughed at midnight some more over girl talk.
