Maya's Pov

Two weeks on the road.
Two weeks since we left Atlanta.
Two weeks since Beth died.

I sat in the field staring at my blood stained boots. They were stained still with Beth Greene's blood and I felt my heart drop at the memories. Her blonde hair soaked in crimson blood. The life vanishing from her eyes. I blinked the tears away realizing Maggie had started to cry again. I turned slowly seeing she sat on a log near the fire sobbing at the memory.

The only family member by DNA she had left was now six feet under. I looked away and towards the trees thinking about the Greene family. Hershel was a kind-hearted man. Kind enough to walk into Cell Block A and take care of me only to have been decapitated. Beth was a sweet girl. She didn't understand the world and didn't like to kill, but she was strong and when it came to the battle, she came fighting only for a bullet to the head to take her out.

I heard footsteps walk behind and someone sit next to me in the dew covered grass, but I never looked over because I already knew who it was.

" You okay ?" Carl asked.

" Yes." I answered and looked over to see he was much cleaner then I was. I still had dirty from when the officers almost hit me with their car and from when Lamson pushed me down the stairs. The blood came from Beth and I tried my best to ignore it. I rested my head on his shoulder squeezing my eyes shut hearing Maggie's cries grow louder.

" It's okay, honey." Tara whispered hugging Maggie close to her and allowing the weak women to cry on her shoulders.

" I don't get it." I snapped picking my head off of Carl's shoulder and glaring at him even though nothing was his fault." I just don't get how a person like me who has done so many bad things is alive and Beth, who was the sweetest angel in the world is dead."

" This world...it's cruel."

" It doesn't make sense." I muttered running my hands through my hair." Hershel didn't deserve to be decapitated. Beth didn't deserve to be shot."

" Have you checked up on him ?" Carl asked diverting me from the lost ones. I turned my direction to Daryl in the distance sitting on a log and staring at the dirt. He hadn't spoke to anyone. Not even me. In fact, he hasn't even made eye contact with me." He hasn't eaten in days, Maya."

I knew where Carl was getting at and nodded my head slowly getting up and walking to the firetruck. I grabbed a water bottle, since it was the only thing we had, and made my way over.

" You need to drink." I spoke expecting him to have a comeback or to maybe just take it, but he didn't move. I crouched down extending the water bottle closer to him." Daryl, you need to-"

He slapped the water bottle from my hand before standing up on his own two feet and walked away still not giving me eye contact. I was stunned and watched as he moved far from me and sat down staring at the dirt once again.

" Get a fire started !" Carol yelled dropping the walkie talkie onto the ground and heading to the first aid kit." Tyreese's been bit !"

I quickly got on my feet collecting sticks and leaves from near the road and making a pile with Carl.

" They amputated the arm the arm. I need to-"
