Maya's Pov

I kept breathing in and out every five seconds just to make sure I was still alive. The adrenaline wore off a while ago and I was slowly beginning to realize the warehouse events. I sat on Deanna's porch stairs with Finnick by my side ready to be questioned by Deanna. Finnick had already gone in half an hour ago, but he didn't want to leave me alone.

" Are you sure you want to do this ?" He asked looking over to while I stared at my combat boot.

The second doctor, Denise, had told me my ankle was sprain needing about six weeks to heal. For now I had to wear a boot on my right foot for two of those weeks and every minute I hated it.

I nodded slowly," Yeah." I swallowed." For Noah."

He nodded his head again falling into silence, but it didn't last long." Lucas is alive because of you."

" You too. You helped carry him."

" No." He argued looking over to me." You knew how to remove the metal rod so he didn't bleed out. You knew how to stop the bleeding with a flannel. You knew he needed a tetanus shot."

I smiled at his words never receiving a deep compliment like it before." We use to live in a prison before this. This man named Hershel was a veterinary, but he knew how to help people. He taught me a lot of things and I even read some books in the prison library."

" Well, I'm grateful Hershel taught you." He said placing another smile on my face.

The door behind us opened and we both got up only to see Nicholas was done with his interview. Instantly Finnick grabbed my hand and I didn't blame him glaring at every step he took.

" Come in, Maya." Deanna beckoned standing at the door way fully dressed in back and no smile detected.

I spared a glance at Finnick before slowly limping up the porch and into her house the best I could. I made my way to the living room seeing the familiar camera recording, but I wasn't surprised. I took a seat on the chair facing the camera seeing she sat on the couch crossing her legs not hesitating when it came to the questions.

" What happened at the warehouse ?" She questioned.

" We got to the warehouse and everything was going fine." I started." We went in, saw some walkers behind chained fences, but it wasn't a worry. Aiden saw a military walker and he shot at it multiple times, but what he didn't see was the grenade. When it went off, it sent us everywhere. I blacked out, but when I woke up my right ankle was swollen and I had a metal rod through my thigh. Aiden was thrown back into a metal shelf impaling him in the shoulder, stomach, abdomen, and leg."

Deanna looked pained and I felt bad the women had to hear the story of how her son died." Did you...Did you try to help him ?"

I nodded," Glenn, Noah, Nicholas, and I all ran over. Noah kept patrol and the rest of us tried to pull him off, but his muscles contracted around the metal rod making it harder for him to slid off. To make it worst, the grenade had opened the caged walkers and with Aiden screaming, the horde came our way."

" What did you guys do next ?" Deanna pressed.

" Glenn was determined to get Aiden out, but then Nicholas...he was scared. He ran off down the halls and with only Glenn and I, we couldn't get Aiden out in time before-" I hesitated at the detail, but knew Aiden's death had to be clear from what Nicholas might of said," The walkers came and got him."
