Revelation From A Dream

Shō

I sat on the couch quietly, Ume went into the kitchen and a dazed, lost in thought look took over her face. I wasn't sure what happened but I was concerned for her. She looked worried and confused. 'We will figure this out' I thought to myself as the girls came and sat on the couch, quietly waiting, not seeming to know where or when to start.

Ume

I left their doorway and headed to the kitchen, I got lost in thought as I made the tea, 'What could this mean? What caused this?' I thought to myself. I didn't notice the girls were waiting with Shō in the living room silently. I finished making the tea and brought out cups, placing them on a tray and walking into the room to sit down. It was very quiet, 'someone has to speak first.. night as well at this started.'

"So Mei, let's start with your nightmare. It seems as though that's what triggered you being able to hear each others thoughts." I spoke softly and tried to sound reassuring, "let's figure this out, together." I smiled.

"Well.. that's not exactly.. true." she looked down at her hands. 'What on earth could she mean.'

Mei

Yuzus mother came into the living room with tea and set it on the table before sitting down, we were all quiet for a few moments before she broke the silence hanging between all of us. "So Mei, let's start with your nightmare. It seems as though that's what triggered you being able to hear each others thoughts." She smiled after adding "let's figure this out, together."

I took a breath, "Well.. that's not exactly.. true." Everyone was staring at me, waiting for more. "I guess I first noticed it when we went to bathe.. Yuzu said something that lined up with something I was thinking, but I thought I was just overly tired, and didn't notice I actually said it out loud. So I decided I would sleep and test it tomorrow. We went to bed and when I woke up after my nightmare, It happened again but this time I heard her, so I tested it." I paused to take a breath.

"I asked her a couple questions while concentrating on her and she answered them, she didn't really seem to notice until you came in and turned on the light. But I had to be really sure I wasn't dreaming that it was happening so I tried it with you two watching and she did it again." I looked around at everyone, my father and Yuzus mother seemed to be listening but Yuzu looked lost in thought.

I wanted to know what she was thinking about, so I focused on thinking about her. Her thoughts became a voice in my head, 'this is kinda cool actually, I would really know how she feels all the time! I could maybe protect her better. It still freaks me out but the more I think about it- wait.. she can hear mine too! Ahh I'll have to be careful what I think around her now! Damn, maybe not so cool.' I was so lost in her thoughts I didn't notice I was staring at her.

She looked at me and blushed, 'I hope she wasn't listening to me.' I blushed in return getting caught eves dropping, 'Yuzu, I want to know what you're thinking too you know.. and you're not the only one who now needs to watch what they're thinking sometimes.' I left her with those words and she blushed even brighter.

"I feel like we are being left out of a conversation here girls," My father spoke up. I turned to face him, "sorry father," he smiled at us.

Yuzu

As Mei spoke I got lost in my own thoughts. I started thinking about how I could always know what she's thinking and then looked at her, I blushed cause she was staring right at me. 'I hope she wasn't listening to that.' I thought and saw her blush, she totally was listening. Then she spoke in my head, 'Yuzu, I want to know what you're thinking too you know.. and you're not the only one who now needs to watch what they're thinking sometimes.' I blushed even harder.

"I feel like we are being left out of a conversation here girls," Shō spoke to us and Mei turned to face him, "Sorry father," she said and I turned to face him too, "yes sorry.. p-papa." I fumbled with the last word. 'Will I ever get used to this?' Mei grabbed my hand and squeezed, it was very comforting. 'Thank you, Mei.' She gave me a side glance and smirked, 'no problem Yuzu.'

My mother spoke up, "okay so Mei, tell us about this nightmare, we still have to figure out what's going on and how deep this connection goes."

She nodded, "Well It started off as You, some man and I having dinner together. Then out of nowhere some guy came bursting through the front door and attacked us. He shouted to you to get me out of there and then two dogs came in and attacked him. We ran outside and waited until we didn't hear them inside anymore, you told me to wait outside while you went to check out what happened." What Mei was describing sounded familiar but I couldn't recall why, I looked at my mother and watched her face fall from her usual smile into shock, I continued listening to Mei's dream.

" I heard noises behind me in the trees so I went inside to be with you, and I saw the man on the ground and blood everywhere, that's when I woke up screaming. I feel like I've seen him before but I don't know him. I felt.. connected to him somehow? I don't really understand it.."

My mother stood up and went to a shelf to grab a book, 'maybe a manual to our powers?' I thought.

Ume

I listened to Mei's story and felt shocked to my core. As she finished I stood up, 'it can't be possible, there's no way.. I have to see.' I walked to the bookshelf and searched for a specific book. Grabbing it from the shelf I walked back to the couch and opened it, 'I haven't looked at these in a while,' searching for the specific page I was looking for I turned the book and handed it to Mei.

"Darling.. is this the man you saw in your dream?" She took the book and looked at the picture. She nodded, "Yes that's exactly him. Who is he?" She asked pointing to the page with the picture.

Yuzu sat forward and looked, "Hey that's our family photo album. A relative? How would she know one of our relatives? Mama?" She looked at me.

'By god.. its true.' I took back the book and sat down. "Mei, Yuzu.. this man.." I could feel tears welling up in my eyes, "Mei, This man is Yuzus father." I looked up. "And that nightmare.. was the night he died."
