Chapter 79: The Long Return

(Takes place the ending of the episode, King of Dragons, Part Two)

Hiccup Pov

I was packing the remaining items that was left in my hut. As I shoved some small items on my saddle bag, I looked around. Seeing the burnt marks around my hut, seeing the cracks, all the damage since the battle. I let out of sigh of relief as I closed the saddle bag and attached to Toothless saddle. Toothless purred as he licked the plan of me hand. I giggled, giving him a few scratches on his head.

Stormy passed by and Toothless went off the chase her. I shook my head as I looked arundel again. I am going to miss this place. All the hard work we put on the build it. I heard footsteps coming towards my way and I turned my head to that direction.

"Hey." Astrid smiled.

"Hey. What are you doing here? You should be with the gang at the stables."I said.

"Yeah... But it gets a bit too noisy and crowded so I got out for some fresh air."

"Fresh air? Did Snotlout fart again"

"No. And if he did, I'll probably be dead by now." She giggles as I chuckled. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh just packing the remaining stuff I have left here. It's nothing much really, I just finished."

Astrid hummed as she looked around. She looked at her hut then back to mine. "I think I'm going to miss Dragon's Edge..."

I walked up to her and stood next to her. "I am too... We have put so much heart and sweat to this."

"Yeah...We did."

Astrid turned to me and gave me a quick kiss in the cheek.

"What's that for?" I asked.

"Nothing. Do I have to have a reason to kiss you or what?" She joked.

"Wha-no! I mean... It's fine that you kiss me. I'm not complaining at all."

"In that case..." She lean and gave me a kiss in the lips.

I smiled in the kiss as I kiss back.

"Ugh. I came in the wrong time as possible."

We pulled away as we heard Snotlout's voice.

"What do you want Snotlout." Astrid sounded irritated.

"I just came to see if you guys are ready to go but I guess you guys need more time to make up and stuff." Snotlout said as he made a face in disgust.

Astrid clenched her fist but I hold her hands before she does something that she won't regret. "We'll be right there Snotlout, just go and make sure the twins doesn't explodes anything."

Snotlout nodded as he flew off. Astrid turned to me, pouting.

"What?" I asked.

"I wanted to hit him Hiccup." Astrid wined.

"Now, now, Astrid... What did I said about hitting people for the sake of it."

"To do it either way."

"Yeah, no. I said to calm yourself down. We don't want you doing something that's you'll regret later."

"When it comes to Snotlout, I won't regret anything."

I rolled my eyes as I rubbed my nose against hers. She giggles as she tried to pushed me away. "Hiccup! Stop it." She continued to giggle and blush as I kept doing it.

After a while I stopped and allowed her to breathe from all the giggling she was doing.

"We should get going. We don't want them to be waiting for us." I said as I mounted on Toothless.

"At this point, they probably left without us." Astrid said as she mounted on Stormfly.

I softly chuckled. "Yeah, maybe you're right."

We both took off to the skies, and flew to the stables. I look to my side and take in the view of once was our home. Sure, it's probably drenched in lava and broken down but it's our home. A home we put our hearts to build. I let out a sigh and turn my attention to flying again.

We landed on the base of the stables.

"About time. What took you guys long?" Tuffnut asked.

"They were too busy making out. I just happened to witness it." Snotlout replied to Tuff's question.

"Ooh... Oh. Ew." He made a disgusting face and looked away.

"Can we like go? We have a long journey to go back home." Fishlegs interrupted.

"Ugh, home. I don't wanna go back to Berk. We have responsibilities over there. And-and we can't blow as much things anymore." Ruffnut groaned.

"Yeah. And once we go back home, people will start calling us as 'kids' again. We're not kids anymore! We have done way dangerous things on our time here in Dragon's Edge!" Snotlout said.

"You're right." I agreed. Astrid turned to me with a shock look. "But we can't stay here on Dragon's Edge anymore. It's slowly falling apart. Even if we managed to keep it up from falling, it would be temporary before it starts crumbling down again. As much as we love this island, it can't no longer hold us anymore."

Everyone stood quiet.

"Besides, we can always come back and stay here for a while. Like, a little break from Berk." I continued.

"Well, you guys need to start getting used to seeing me here more often then." Snotlout mumbled.

I shook my head as I shifted to be ready to take off. "Let's go, gang."

We took off and headed towards Berk. Not even a mile after we left the island, the twins starts a competition of 'who-can-make-it-to-Berk-the-fastest'. And as always, everyone agrees and began racing.

"Come one Hiccup!" Astrid yelled.

"H-hang on a minute!" I yelled back as I turned to look at the Edge one more time. So many memories that I will always cherish in that island. Then I turned towards Astrid and smirked. I shifted my foot into a position to make Toothless's tail to a pose to make him faster.

"Why you little- Hiccup!"
