today.
everything changes.
one bite is all it takes.
only one.
just one.It was a rainy day in Manhattan which wasn't uncommon New York weather. Everyone either had a raincoat on or used whatever they could to keep the rain off their face. The sun remained hidden behind the grey clouds all day but Ariana didn't mind it. When it rained and she wasn't at school she loved to sleep or write some stories in her notebook; the sound of rain either making her sleepy or giving her inspiration. When she got inside the school the rain made loud noises against the roof and she tried to dry her slightly damp hair.
"Wow she's here again today! What's up with your sudden perfect attendance?"
Namjoon walked with her to their third period class since they shared it together along with Hoseok. He was always teasing her about her skipping school since he was the only one out of their friend group that had perfect attendance so far. For Namjoon good attendance and amazing grades were nothing out of the ordinary.
"There's other people here who have way worse attendance than me! Besides I always have a legitimate reason."
"What's the legitimate reason to miss two or three days in a row every other week?"
It was almost as though Namjoon knew she wouldn't be able to give him an answer but asked anyways. Luckily the question was forgotten about when they walked into their classroom and Hoseok called them over to their group table. This was the English class she was already almost done writing the essay for while the majority of the people in the room won't start for another few days. Getting ahead on assignments payed off the majority of the time.
"Hey Ari! How's that photography project coming? Taehyung is super stressed about it so I'm wondering if it's as complicated as he's making it out to be."
Digging around in her backpack for her English notebook she answered him. "It's not, not really anyways. Maybe it's because we have to take pictures outside of Manhattan so maybe he thinks he won't find anything good."
"How's yours coming?" Namjoon asked.
She sat the notebook she was just looking for on the desk when the realization hit her. "Oh my god." Ariana groaned. "I left my camera at the flower shop yesterday and I'm supposed to meet up with Jungkook to go take pictures in Queens."
Hoseok snickered. "Nice one Ari."
"You're not helpful!"
"Just get it as soon as you leave school." Namjoon intervened. "Maybe he can meet you there."
"Thank you for the helpful advice joon." She looked at Hoseok with a stern look who only laughed.
Class started and everyone continued on with their daily routine. Going to the same classes, going to your locker when you needed a textbook or binder, eating at the same lunch table. By the time everyone was leaving the campus for the day she was anxious to get to Queens. Ariana met up with Jungkook at his locker before he walked out and told him the plan she had in mind. He thought it was funny that she forgot something as important as her camera but after everything that happened with Miles yesterday she didn't think much of anything.
She went to her flower shop to get a bouquet of flowers to give to him so he could give it to the child's mother from last night as a way of expressing that he was sorry. When he got the bouquet he looked like he could cry again, the pain resurfacing. He laid the bouquet of roses, white tulips, and sunflowers on the woman's doorstep who found them when she heard the soft knock on the door. There was a note attached that said "I'm so sorry. My heart is with you right now. Stay safe, and I hope you can find it in you to forgive me."
