"3 missed calls from Jungkook. 4 unread messages. God he's got to be so mad at me.."

Ariana was sitting in her bedroom with Taehyung sitting in the chair in front of her desk. It was mid morning and they should've been at school but when Taehyung texted her wondering if she wanted to ride to school with him today so she told him to come over so they could talk. She was going to go but it wouldn't be until later, needing time for herself.

"Where did you go? Why did you just suddenly run off?" Taehyung wasn't mad, just confused.

"I.. had to go see my mom and I left my phone here when I dropped my school stuff off. I was going to try and still meet up with him and Peter in Queens but other stuff happened and I couldn't."

"Is that your excuse?"

Taehyung was the first one that knew she was hiding something. He had always known, the excuses she gave not making sense after awhile. Since it wasn't really his place to ask why he just let her be.

"Tae I'm sorry but.. I don't really know how to explain it. I know you don't believe me but that's the story I'm going with. Is he mad at me?"

He stared at his shoes. "Yeah, kind of. When you weren't answering your phone and he stopped by your house but when he did you weren't here. He went to Queens anyway and he even took some pictures for you. He's your best friend Ariana, tell him the truth."

The truth. No more secrets, no more hiding, he would know everything about what's been going on in her life the past year. Why she was always in Brooklyn, why she snuck out all the time, why she was almost always skipping school. But the truth is dangerous, it could put him at risk. Even though Ariana trusted Jungkook more than anything she couldn't take the chance of something happening to him because of her. Whether or not she'd become a hero like Miles was still her choice, her powers not yet revealed. Miles told her that she wasn't forced to go out there and fight crime if it's not what she wanted to do but she knew she would. If she had the opportunity to go out into the world and save it from whatever was causing harm she would do it even though it would put her own life at risk.
A part of was holding back, still wanting to live her normal life. She'd be like everyone else she knew.

Was it worth it?

He told her to think about what she wanted to do and when she decided on something to call him and let him know. She couldn't sleep at all the previous night and Miles stayed with her until around dawn. When she did finally get some sleep that was only for an hour; she woke up to find him gone from the bean bag in the corner of her room that he liked to sleep on whenever he came over. They talked all throughout the night about what she should do and how to live with her new abilities. Ariana was too afraid to try and shoot a web in fear she'd unleash a different ability if she even had any others. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt someone. It was all too much to deal with at one time.

Taehyung left her apartment so he wouldn't miss a test and so did she around two hours later. It was around lunch time when she checked in at school so she met up with her friends at their usual lunch table. The cafeteria seemed louder today than usual but maybe it was just her that thought that. Jungkook was picking at his food when she sat down and didn't even bother looking up. At first she hesitated at the cafeteria doors, wondering how bad this was gonna go. Namjoon and Hoseok tensed up, knowing what was about to happen.

"Jungkook-"

"Surprised you showed up." He snapped at her. His tone was cold, angry.

"Let me explain-"

"No, you don't need to explain anything. You ditched me yet again and didn't even bother to say anything. I waited so long for you before I just ended up going to Queens myself and me and Peter just walked around instead. I'm so sick of you doing this and giving me some pathetic excuse when you come back! Do you not trust me or something? All I wanted to do was spend some time with my best friend and you couldn't even do that for me. Typical. It's in your best interest to leave me alone right now."
