Manhattan, New York
On a rooftop

Ariana had been so impatient through the entire day that Namjoon noticed her leg jumping up and down. She said everything was fine, just nervous about a rest they had that day, and forgot about it. Earlier that morning she turned in the photography project that caused her to leave her camera behind in the flower shop, her teacher loving the scrapbook she put together. The pictures all contained her thoughts on the world like it was supposed to but the one in the end was the one that meant the most.

Now here she was, sometime that afternoon, standing on a rooftop with Miles right beside her. The mask was on, the hood pulled over it, the wind blowing softly against her. Miles was in his suit as well, prepping her for what was about to go down.

"This is it, the big test. I've shown you how to work the web slingers but you haven't been able to swing until now. We're gonna do this together until you're ready to be on your own. Don't worry about what's below you, only think about where you're headed."

The city below her had no idea what was happening. No one thought to look up and notice the two people standing there in identical suits, wondering what they were up to. They carried on with their everyday lives with a phone up to their ear or sipping a coffee that was still a little too hot. Ariana stood up, took deep breaths, and turned to Miles.

"How did you do it? What did you do to overcome it?"

"I remembered everything I was taught and found my answer. You have to take that step forward in order to make any progress. Because if you don't you'll never make it anywhere. You have to push every doubt aside and focus on the goal you have in mind. Take that step forward."

"Save the city. Save yourself. That's the job, that's it."

The words Miles spoke over the phone to her just days ago seemed to echo in her mind. It was enough to make her take that step forward, to overcome her fears. It was now or never.

"Let's go."

Miles went first with Ariana following close behind and they swung through the heart of Manhattan like it was a routine. After watching Miles do it for so long she did it with enough ease to make it appear flawless. She even did a few flips above him which caused him to laugh but tried to show her some of his tricks as well. The people below them were gawking at the sight happening and not even ten minutes later there were news outlets flooding the streets. Cameras were flashing, interviewers yelling, people following them in vans to take good pictures.

"Don't let them worry you. Keep going! We'll stop once we get past Central Park." Miles yelled out to her.

She was above the city she grew up in, flying. There were times where she lost her flow and messed up but Miles motivated her to keep going. She thought that her arms would get tired but she was too excited to see if they were. Ariana was right beside Miles the entire time, them doing flips and tricks off of the sides of buildings or landing on cars to jump off of. Her agility was amazing, almost as if it was natural. All of the training she had been through over the weekend and the past weeks was paying off.

The suit felt light on her skin which Hera made sure was the case when Ariana tried it on for the first time. People were stopping in the streets to take pictures or to just stare in amazement at the sight of another spider person; some even tried calling out to them when they passed. Children were squealing, parents were watching with either fear or shock, and some didn't care at all. It was the first time Manhattan had came to a full on stop.

They landed on a cinema rooftop. Miles landed effortlessly, Ariana landed on the edge with a soft thud. Her lungs were gasping for air but she didn't know if it was from the adrenaline or fear.
