The following morning
Back at school, first periodJungkook wasn't at school that day. When Ariana didn't see him talking to Hoseok or Taehyung outside before school but just figured he was running late since it was a Monday. The storm that took over the sky last night was replaced in the morning with bright sunshine and white clouds strewn about. It was humid but not too humid that it was uncomfortable to sit outside which was typical New York weather. Ariana sat in her seat in first period and waited for Jungkook to walk in the door so she could try and talk to him. Minutes passed, the tardy bell sounded through the hallways, and there was still no sign of him. She slumped in her seat slightly with tears forming in her eyes when Taehyung walked up to her.
"He's fine, he just needs a day off."
Taehyung sat in Jungkook's seat. Ariana knew he was upset but not this upset.
"All because of me?"
Taehyung bit his lip, trying to find the right thing to say. "If you want me to be honest then maybe. He hasn't missed school in like four months and it's March? Ariana all I can tell you is I think he's doing this so he doesn't make the situation worse by accidentally saying something he'll regret. He needed a day off so he can come back and forgive you."
Forgiveness was all she could ask for at this point. Knowing that she made Jungkook this upset made her feel horrible, that not even being the right word to describe how she was currently feeling. Remembering what took place the night before she wondered if it'll only get worse since she basically signed her life away last night.
"Once I finally get around to telling him the truth everything will make sense. Until then, things are just gonna have to be this way." Her heart broke at her words. This was for his own good.
"Ariana, what are you hiding?" Taehyung really wanted to know.
"Nothing too bad."

After school
Downtown ManhattanAriana decided to go against her original plan to wait till later on in the week to try and talk to Jungkook by going to visit him at the coffee shop where he works. It was almost a ten minute walk from the flower shop that Ariana worked at so they usually met up for lunch on days they were both working. She knew it wasn't a good idea to try and talk to him when he was still clearly upset but she couldn't take it anymore. Watching the person you relied on the most ignore you was one of the worst feelings in the world and Ariana was going to try and end it.
When she walked into the coffee shop she was greeted by the warm smell of coffee beans and freshly baked bagels. Jungkook was too busy making a frappe that he didn't notice Ariana walk in so she stood off to the side and waited till the line went down. When the woman in front of her was handed her cup of coffee and left Jungkook's eyes met Ariana's. For a spilt second his face lit up with happiness but then it turned into anger.
"I know you don't want anything to do with me right now but please will you just let me talk? When you have your next break can we please sit down somewhere?"
"If you're just going to give me a lame excuse then no I'd prefer not to."
"I'm going to answer all the questions you may have. Please kookie?"
He went soft at the cute nickname. The look in her eyes showed her sincerity so he agreed. His next break was in five minutes so she sat on a barstool near the window and patiently waited. An earpiece was in her right ear but was hidden by her hair that she made sure was making it unnoticeable. Before long Jungkook sat down in the stool in front of her, handing her a caramel frappe with a brownie.
