A Merry Muppet Mash-Up

ACT 2: SCENE 4

Marie and Sweetums hear the song from beneath the tunnel they're in. The tunnel is dark with glow-in-the-dark moss as the only light. Sweetums stands under the sewer hole and pushes the lid off. The scene changes to the street above as Sweetums looks left and right before finally turning around and seeing the partying townspeople.

Sweetums: [Exclaims in excitement] "Alright! Sound and color are back in Toyland!"

Sweetums puts the cover over on his left and climbs out. He then bends down and picks up Marie. He then slams the cover back over the sewer hole, which causes everyone to stop singing and dancing and turn around. As everyone stares at Sweetums, the townsfolk rush over in relief and excitement.

Walter is shouting from the crowd before he's seen running towards Marie. The two embrace each other as Clara and the others do the same.

Walter/Nutcracker: [After he hugs Marie] "Are you okay, Marie?"

Marie: [Still being hugged by her sister and the group] "I'm fine." [Coughs] "But I'm about to run out of oxygen."

Just after Marie's line, everyone moves back. That's when Marie notices Rizzo and Rizzo notices Sweetums.

Marie points at Rizzo at the same time Rizzo points at Sweetums and they both shout: "What's he doing here?!"

Clara: [Answers Marie's question] "Rizzo helped us get here. You?"

Marie: "Sweetums helped me get out of Barnaby's basement."

From behind the crowd, a voice is heard as everyone moves aside. It is Clara's boyfriend; Beau Blu. After the party, he used the magic door to return to Toyland.

Beau Blu: [As he moves in between the toys] "Excuse me. Pardon me. Coming through." [After he finally reaches the small group, he says to Walter] "Your Highness, it's good to see you after all these years!"

Clara: [After she and everyone else turn around] "Beau? How'd you get here?"

Kermit/Hoffmann: [Taps her on her shoulder] "Excuse me." [She turns her head to him] "He's Barnaby's great-nephew. He lives here."

Clara sharply looks at Beau.

Beau Blu: [Bashfully] "Little Boy Blu at your service, Your Highness. And for the record, I grossly disapprove of what my distantly related uncle has done." [He then turns to Walter] "Your Highness, for several years, Barnaby has all but erased Christmas. Not only were we all losing our colors, but we were also losing our voices."

Walter/Nutcracker: "I noticed when I got here." [He turns to Clara] "But Clara and everybody's singing restored the sound and color." [He bows] "Thank you, Princess."

Then everyone in the crowd bows down to both Clara and Marie.

Marie: [Whispers from between her teeth] "Am I the only one who's really uncomfortable about this?"

Clara: [Also whispers from between her teeth] "No." [In her regular voice] "Does anyone know how to get back to the Stahlbaum's mansion from here? The tunnel we arrived in closed itself."

Bean Bunny/Teddy Bear Toy: "If you would, Your Highnesses, could you please help us defeat Barnaby and the Rat King before we show you the way home?"

Robin/Jack-in-the-box Toy: [Jumps out of his box] "Oh yes." [Jump] "Please." [Jump] "Help us!"

Bo Peep's Muppet Black Sheep: "Barnaby has an army of Trolls and Goblins! Even with our Prince and his wooden soldiers, we'll be outnumbered!"

Ralph/Mayor of Toyland: [Taps his staff on a wooden box. When he has everyone's attention, he shouts] "Let them speak!"

Everyone turns their heads to Clara and Marie.

Clara: [To the crowd] "I'm sorry everyone, but I have to get my sister back to the Stahlbaums' mansion before time runs out."

Marie: [Tugs on Clara's sleeve] "But, Clara, Barnaby is planning on erasing Christmas! We have to help!"

Rizzo: [Exclaims] "Say what?!"

Walter/Nutcracker: [Turns and asks in a slightly stunned voice] "You didn't know?"

Rizzo: [Angrily] "Of course I didn't know! None of the rats know! That's not part of the plan!" [Turns to the crowd] "Rats love Christmas just as much as everyone here! None of us, not even our king, want to erase it." [Turns to Clara] "With your permission, Your Highness, I would like to warn the other rats of Barnaby's plan."

Clara: "Granted. Go."

Rizzo runs as fast as his feet can carry him out of the scene.

Miss Piggy/Sugar Plum Fairy Queen: "Now that that's done, does anyone have an idea on how to get to Candyland?"

All the citizens of Toyland shudder in response.

Miss Piggy/Sugar Plum Fairy Queen: [Puzzled by their reaction] "What'd I say?"

Bo Peep's Muppet Black Sheep: "To get to Candyland from here, we'd have to go through the Enchanted Snowflake Forest."

Clara: "Why is that a bad thing?"

Little Bo Peep: "For years and years, that place has become far too cold and harsh for even the snowflake fairies to live."

Maire: "How did that happen?"

Ralph/Toyland's Mayor: "Well, at first we thought it was because the Outer Realm's winter and snow seasons were becoming shorter and warmer, and all that cold and snow had to go somewhere. But it turned out that Barnaby used an evil magic potion to put the Enchanted Snowflake Queen into a deep sleep. Without her, most of the snow and cold can't get to the Outer Realm."

Pepe: "Global warming conspirators will be happy to hear that."
