Chapter 9

I woke up to someone whispering my name...and poking my face.

"Tana...Tana wake up."

Ryders arms tightened around me, bringing me closer to his chest. Opening my eyes I saw Beth inches from my face. "What Beth?"

"I'm bored, leave your boy toy here and come hang out in my room, please?" I whispered.

"Okay, okay grab me his shirt." I whispered. She picked it up off the floor holding it out to me as I wiggled my way out of Ryder's arms. Once out of bed I quickly threw the shirt over my underwear clad body.

"Tana your boy toy has one sexy body," she said ogling him.

"I know right." I whispered looking down at him sleeping, the blanket pooling just under his hips deliciously.

Before I know what she was doing she lifted the blanket off his hips, "Oh and he's big to! What isn't perfect about this guy?" she asked as she lowered the blanket.

"Beth what the hell?" I whispered

"To answer your question Beth, everything about me is perfect although I do like my privacy. Thanks I know it's big." Ryder said chuckling.

Beth jumped away from the bed laughing like a crazy person. She grabbed my hand and quickly dragged me out of the room and across the hall to what I assume is her room, slamming the door and locking it behind us.

"I can't believe you did that Beth, do you not understand the word boundaries?" I asked though I wasn't really mad, I'd accepted her way long ago.

"Oh knock it off, you know you're not mad."

"I should be though and besides he could be listening." I said half joking.

There was a hard knock on the door followed by, "Oh baby, you don't know how right you are, now unlock the door and open up."

Beth and I both yelled, "Never!"

He laughed darkly in return, "Baby you do realize that with me being Captain of the Royal Guard I have a master key to all the doors in the castle?"

Oh shit, Beth and I look at each other, "What's the worst he could do to us?" Beth whispered.

"Well, he can make your worst fears come to life," I whispered back.

"Oh that's no good, you're not getting in that door!" she yelled at the door.

"Really? Tana do you really think I'd use my powers on you two cause you let your friend sneak peek? I used my power on you once, you told me to and it was the worst decision I've made in a long time." He said sounding a bit hurt and angry.

"Sorry" I said to Beth as I opened the door and went after Ryder, "Ryder wait I'm sorry, I don't think you'd actually do that, I really am sorry " I said grabbing his hand pulling him to a stop.

"Do you know how much I hate my power? I loath it with my very being, I would give anything to have a different power or no power at all. Yes it makes me a great Captain but it also keeps people from me. I know every fear of every person I meet and because of my power I know that they fear me, do you know what's that is like? To have people fear you when you have given them no reason? No of course not." Ryder bought his hand up to my cheek, "I know you don't fear me but to hear that you thought if you let me in I'd use my power, it hurt I don't want you to ever think that."

I leaned my head into his hand, "I swear I don't think that, I know you wouldn't, I was joking and I now see it was a very bad joke." I said standing on my tippy toes giving him a kiss, "I'm sorry.

He smiled rubbing my cheek with his thumb, "It's okay, you're completely forgiven babe."

I smiled.

"Okay so I have to go train with the guards, I've been slacking, so I'll see you later?" he asked.

"Can I come? Watch, take notes, maybe practice with Beth?" I asked hopeful.

He raised an eyebrow at me, "Sure?"

"What Beth and I have been taking Jujitsu and Kickboxing for the last 8 years."

"Okay well go get dressed and grab Beth I'll be in your room in ten."

"Okay," I said before I ran to Beth's room and said, "Dress in workout clothes we're sparing. Ten minutes."

"Sweet," she said jumping from her bed as I walked across the hall to my room, quickly getting dressed in spandex shorts and a sports bra, finishing just as Beth and Ryder walked in.

"Ready?" Ryder asked eyeing my outfit.

"Yea," I said putting my hair up, "Let's go."
