Ryder and I raced into the cabin I barely stopped to open the door, I came to a stop just inside the kitchen to see things moving around bottles, jars, bowls all landing neatly on thee table. "That's everything you need sweetie," Celestia said.
"Thanks," I said setting the open book on the table.
"So since Celestia knows what the spell you're doing is can I know? And more importantly are you feeling better?" He asked studying me.
"I'm good promise and I think I've found a way for us to get Ronan to tell us where the rest of his army is with no chance of him lying, cause I'm going to pull it right out of his twisted mind and he can't do anything about it." I said grabbing the big black bowl filled with water placing it on the table, turning on the stove I heated a kettle of water with the herbs in it.
"What how?" Ryder asked.
"This spell allows me to pluck what I need right out of his memories and he won't even be aware of it." I said as I watched the sun disappear and a full moon replace it.
"I'm just going to pretend to understand and move on," Ryder whispered. The kettle whistled as I finished setting up the candle and candle holder near the bowl, grabbing a cup I drizzled honey around the inside of the cup then poured the tea and took it over to the table. Sitting in front of the bowl I slowly sipped the tea, I felt my mind and body start to relax. Finishing the tea I placed the candle in it's holder lighting it and gazing into the flame for a few moments before setting the candle close to the bowl of water so that the flame, the light, was reflected in it.
Closing my eyes I pictured Ronan, then I pictured his fellow believers mentally demanding him over and over to tell me where they are finally I opened my eyes and stared into the scrying bowl still picturing Ronan, his army, and what I want over and over again.
My surroundings changed, suddenly I was in a windowless stone room lit by candles, in the middle stood Ronan and maybe 30 more men crowded around a huge table, staring at a map listening to Ronan rant about something I couldn't hear, I looked around the room, searching for clues for where they had done their planning. Not seeing any clues on the walls I looked closer at the men I didn't know, I was shocked to see them all wearing Lord Boe's guard uniform. How could Boe have been so blind? The vision changed, we are in Maine now...But where? I frantically searched my surroundings for something familiar and unfortunately I knew exactly where they were hiding and it was not good. They were practically on our door step, luckily they don't know that they are camped less than I mile away in the woods by the railroad tracks.
Shaking myself out of the trance I bolt out of my chair so fast it went flying back, "We need to see Norrix now! They are close..to close." I said bolting out of the cabin and the void, stopping in the hallway long enough to scent out Norrix, finding it led to a part of the castle I'd never been to before but I followed the trail as fast as I could. It lead me to the dungeon of all places, I threw the door open making it slam against the wall just in time to see Ronan get stabbed in the side and scream in pain as Lord Boe slowly removed the knife. All of their heads snapped in my direction, Norrix was the first to speak up, "Tana you shouldn't be here."
"Oh whatever, I know where they all are and about how many Ronan has following him." I said putting my hands on my hips.
"What how?" Norrix asked.
"I used a truth spell, I got our answers straight from his head so no chance of him lying to us. Cause well I'm awesome." I said laughing.
"So what did you find out? Lord Boe asked, "I need to right this."
"Lord Boe I am sorry, truly...But um.." I said clearing my throat as my smile slipped from my face, I just then came to the realization that this is not just a betrayal to me but most of all to Lord Boe and it's going to hurt.
"Why? Why are you sorry Tana? Spit it out." Lord Boe said Confused glancing between all of us before setting his gaze back on me.
"Ronan isn't the only one from your guard..." I whispered not meeting is gaze.
"Fuck...how many?" He asked ashamed.
"I had a vision of them in a windowless stone room surrounding a large table, they were looking at maps of the area and this castle and listening to Ronan rant and rave, there were about 30 or so of them..." I cleared my throat once more before continuing, "They were all in your guard uniform...I'm not sure how many are out there but I do know that at least 30 of them are your guards and that's why I am sorry," I said glancing at Ronan seeing his angry and shocked face.
Lord Boe walked up to me resting his hand on my shoulder, "Tana when it comes to traitors I want to know so I can kill them as painfully as, if not more, than their betrayal."
I leaned closely to Lord Boe whispering in his ear, "Well we don't technically need Ronan anymore, I know exactly how to get to the others."
"Oh I do very much like the way you think, come back with me and let me experience what other naughty things you got in that beautiful head of yours." Lord Boe asked winking at me.
"Oh..." I said my eyes widening in surprise, "Sorry no, I am quite happy with what I have and nothing personal but your castle might very well be full of people that want to kill me." I said shrugging my shoulders and taking a step back towards Ryder.
"Touché," Lord Boe said as he turned back to Ronan be coming cold as ice again.
Ryder pulled me towards the door and up the stairs, "You are not going to want to see what happens next, Vlad the Impaler is babies compared to these guys."
I didn't say anything just followed behind him down the hallway for a minute before saying, "So when are we going after these guys?"
"We? You're not going after these guys Tana." Ryder said turning to face me.
"Of course I am and you can't stop me." I retorted.
"Wanna bet?"
"And exactly how do plan of finding them without me? I'm the only one that knows where they are and I'm only going to lead you there."
"No you're going to show us on a map and stay here where it's safe." Ryder said taking a step closer.
"Wanna Bet big boy?" I said smirking at him, I was going he just hasn't realized it yet.
