Derek's POV
"Are you thirsty or hungry?" I asked Liz when the door closed. She shook her head and went back to the same state she was in.
I sat next to her on my bed. She looked absolutely broken. I hated to see her like that.
She shivered. Is she cold?
I touched her arm. She was absolutely freezing.
I got up to find her a jacket or vest but I realized that it would be more useful to give her mine since it wouldn't take so long to find and it was already warm from my body heat.
I quickly took it off and grabbed Liz's hand. She looked up but didn't move. I slowly pulled her up, making sure that I didn't make any sudden moves.
When she sat up, I quickly wrapped my jacket around her. She snuggled into it.
It was adorable. My jacket was way too big for her.
No, focus. She needs your help.
I shrugged the thoughts from my head and sat next to her.
She hunched over while holding her side. I didn't know what to do so I placed my arm around her shoulder.
After a few seconds she turned to me. She snuggled in my chest and I felt my heart beat a little faster.
"It's gonna be okay." I whispered to her.
"Why are you guys even doing this for me?" she said with a little voice.
"Liz, you are not worthless. To me you are one of the most important people in the world."
"Why? What did I do?" she asked me a little scared.
That broke my heart. She doesn't even know how much she's influenced our lives. My live. It's like she's used to being invisible.
She probably was used to being invisible.
"You didn't do anything."
Liz leaned more and more against me and I slowly let us fall. She was curled up against me while I tried to be as supportive as possible.
I held her in my arms. Every time I did that, I got reminded by how small she was. Not in height wise, more in as if she never ate anything. She barely had any fat.
Liz silently whimpered again. I placed my hands on her arms and took as much pain as I could take.
Liz stared at my face. My heart began to beat a bit faster when my brain made the observation of how close we were.
We continued to lay like this. I tried to take as much pain as I could but because of the large amount I took each time, I had to decrease the amount I could take the next time. At one point Liz hid her face in my shirt again.
We stayed like this for at least half an hour until she spoke up.
"Why don't you just kill me?" she said emotionless.
My heart began to beat faster. She couldn't mean that, could she?
"No. You're not going to die." I said determined.
"But I cause you pain and the others trouble." she argued with a voice filled with pain.
"I choose to take your pain because I want to help you."
"Why would you want to help me?"
"Because I care about you." I whispered.
She stayed silent after that. Another 20 minutes passed. Suddenly I felt Liz's claws in my stomach. I winced at the surprise and looked down.
She'd shifted for a second and had accidentally poked me with her nails. It started to bleed and my shirt had holes in it but I didn't care.
"Liz? Are you okay?" I asked concerned.
"No." she answered sounding absolutely broken.
I felt a wet drop on my shirt. Was she crying?
"It hurts." she whimpered in the smallest voice I've ever heard. She looked up into my eyes. She had tears in her eyes but refused to let them fall.
"I know, but you must get through this. I'll do anything to save you... I'll do anything to help you." I said while I got ready to take some of her pain.
She pulled her arm back and crawled away from me.
"No. Don't hurt yourself because of me. I'm nothing. Just let me die and it will all be over!"
She stumbled out of the room. Before she could even set two steps, I'd caught up to her.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
"Just let me." She answered determined and headed to the balcony.
She didn't make it very far. I was about to stop her but her legs gave out underneath her. She fell but I caught her before she hit the ground.
"Liz, just please let us take care of you."
She nodded in defeat and I picked her up bridal style. I carried her to my bed and laid her down on top of me.
"Where you... gonna jump?" I asked silently.
Liz didn't answer, something that says enough. She'd jumped if I hadn't been here.
"please don't judge me. I can handle normal people's stares but... not yours." She whispered.
"I'm not judging you. I know the amount of pain you are in."
"Thank y-" she said but got cut off by a random pain wave. She curled up on top of me and I instantly wrapped my arms around her.
"Please take it away." she whimpered.
