Derek's POV
I honestly did not know what to do. When I saw Liz appear in the doorway looking all broken, alone and crying, I was very confused. I only knew one person in the world who could get her to cry like this. At that same moment, a guy around the age of 40 and a cop appeared behind her. I'd never seen the guy in my life but it wasn't hard to figure out who he was.
The cop stayed at the door, occasionally talking to his colleague through his police radio. I noticed that he silently studied the relationship between Liz and her dad but he didn't do anything.
"Derek..." Liz said really quietly. "This is my dad... And he's here to... take me home..." she said without looking up from the ground.
What? He's here to take her home? Yeah right. That's not gonna happen.
"Is dat je vriendje? Jesus, je bent ook wel echt een hoer." her dad said in what I guess was Dutch.
Liz slightly cringed at what he said but he didn't stop with talking. "En hier heb je je spullen achtergelaten? Wat heeft hij gedaan om je vriendje te worden? Je drugs verkocht?"
"He's not a drugsdealer." Liz hissed.
"Tuurlijk niet. Dat zou te goed voor je zijn."
I heard Liz growl lowly. Her dad didn't know that I could hear them talking since Liz had whispered all her answers back to him. Not that I knew what he was talking about.
"So you're her dad?" I said mockingly.
"Yes. That am I." he said with a very bad accent. I always knew Liz had a slight accent but this was just over the top.
"You're not taking her back. I know what you've done."
"I know not what you talk over." he said as if he wasn't bothered at all by his lack of English.
"Don't play stupid with me." I said as I stepped closer, looking as dangerous and intimidating as possible. This guy needed to get his fucking brain smashed in.
"Now know I why she chose you." he whispered with a sly smirk and quickly backed down as if I'd scared him. His heartbeat didn't change but the cop was convinced.
"Step away from him." he said to me as he rushed over to us.
"The police is on his side." Liz whispered low enough for only me to hear. "There's nothing you can do right now."
Yes there is. I could snap their necks and run for it.
But that's probably not a good idea. We'd be fugitives for the rest of our lives.
The cop was talking to Liz's dad. I heard him say some stuff like 'let her say goodbye' and 'try not to get too involved' to him. To my surprise he reluctantly agreed. He must be playing nice guy to the cops.
Liz went in the other rooms to get some of her stuff while I got a call from Stiles. He obviously had no idea that Liz was here and I did not feel like talking. I told him that she was gathering her stuff and hung up.
There were so many things I wanted to do but all of them would get me thrown in jail or worse. My brain was processing on the speed of light but there were no options.
She's really leaving.
Liz appeared from one of the rooms with a couple of things in her hands. Her dad eagerly took it from her and began to walk to the door, oblivious that Liz wasn't directly following him.
"I have to go." Liz said while new tears threatened to fall.
I walked over to Liz and hugged her. I could feel my shirt getting wet from her tears but that was the last thing on my mind. I hid my face in her hair and breathed in Liz's smell for the last time.
"I'll get you back." I whispered in her hair.
"I just wish I had a little more time." she whispered back.
"I'll get you back. No matter what."
"I wasn't very good at it but I love you." Liz whispered.
"Shut up." I whispered back "Save it for when you get back."
She slowly stepped back from the hug and looked up. "Goodbye Derek." she said with a broken voice while she bit her lip from crying again.
"Goodbye Liz."
