"What?" Emberly said shocked as we looked at the source of the smell of blood.
"Ah there you are." Peter said as if everything was fine. He pointed at the guy on the couch. "This is Damien. He's the new Oliver."
Damien was thrown on the couch with his limbs awkwardly dangling from the side. He was drenched in blood and looked kind of dead.
"Are you sure he's still breathing?" Emberly asked sarcastically.
Peter gave her an expressionless stare and walked up the stairs.
"You're just gonna leave him here?"
"Yes." Peter replied and walked out of view.
I sighed annoyed. Only Peter would be able to do something like this.
"Are you sure that he's still alive?" Emberly said less certain.
"Focus on your hearing. You can hear his breaths and heartbeat."
"But they're both pretty slow."
"Yeah, he's asleep."
"Your heartbeat goes down when you sleep?" Emberly gasped in shock "But you'll die!"
"Did you even pass biology?"
"No. But I passed my other subjects."
I shook my head and sat on the opposite couch of Damien.
"So what's the plan?" Emberly butted in.
"I'll watch him. You go home."
"No I'll wait with you."
"It might take hours and I've got other things to do. Things you can't help me with."
"Fine." Emberly said after a second of thinking. She left my apartment and left us alone. Peter didn't come down at all for the rest of the night. The new wolf, Damien, looked around 25 years old. His vest was all over the place and his shirt was ripped. The blood on his stomach was already dry. It would've been a couple of hours ago that he'd been attacked.
My mind wandered in the free time. I didn't really had anything to do, I just wanted to be left alone. Was there really nothing I could do for Liz? I knew that it had no use since I'd exhausted any possible option by now, but I couldn't help but wonder.
Right about midnight Damien's heart began to beat faster. Instantly forgetting all my previous thoughts, I focused on Damien. After nearly a minute his eyes slowly opened. He looked around as if he was trying to remember were he was until his gaze landed on me.
"What do you remember?" I asked when he didn't speak.
"Uh... Who are you?" he said with a low raspy voice.
"I'm Derek. Derek Hale. We're in the same pack."
"What? I- I remember... something like a dog... it bit me when I got in my car from that one fast food place... Why am I not in the hospital?" he said getting more confused by the second.
Peter should inform them better. "It wasn't a dog. That was my uncle Peter. Your alpha."
"As in werewolves?"
"Yes. Exactly like werewolves."
"You're saying you're a werewolf?" he said mockingly "That's it. I must've hit my head when that dog bit me."
I sighed and looked down at my hands. It was always hard to convince them of something they'd rejected a long time ago.
I quickly shifted and looked up. Damien's heart rate went up and his eyes went wide. All the drowsiness he still had left his features and he sat up straight. Before he could have any reason to run away, I shifted back.
