So this chapter got a bit out of hand... It's 5 times longer than usual!
And that's after I rearranged it because the original was 11.4 times longer than usual! I'm not sure how that happened.
"What do you mean?" I asked as my hand shot up at the place in my neck he was staring at.
"Did you get an other tattoo?" Derek asked uncertain. He wasn't sure because the mark didn't look like a tattoo.
I felt my fingers brush over the two scars in my neck. They were tiny thin lines not longer than two centimeter max. I remembered how I got them and I guess I should tell him. I knew why he'd noticed them out of all my scars; they were dark purple.
"Uh..."
Should I tell him? I would hear about it for the next few weeks if I do. I came here to run away from it, not to relive all of it by telling them. Then again it is Derek we're talking about and he deserves to know. He wouldn't give up until he found the answer anyway.
"Okay. I'll tell you."
He pushed himself away and sat in between my legs. I wrapped my legs around his waist and sat up as well.
"So uhm..." Where do I start the story of what happened in the past two months... I opened my mouth to tell him but closed it again after realizing that he'd just freak out if I told him that part. What do I tell and what should I leave out?
After gaping like a fish a couple of times, Derek placed his hand on my arm. "You can tell me anything. You know that, right?"
I nodded slowly and added with a sad smile "But it's a little bit more complicated than that."
Okay so I'll leave out my job since he does not need to know that... I can tell him about the scar... I'll leave out how my father died... And if he doesn't freak out too much I can tell him about the full moon.
"Okay!" I said as I'd found my new courage. At least, that was until I looked up and saw him staring at me. My mouth became dry and I became nervous. He kept running his hand up and down my arm to calm me down but it didn't really help. If anything, it only made me more nervous.
"So uh... Europe... isn't like... America." That was a great sentence. Good job Liz. Now continue and form your second sentence. Derek looked at me and waited for me to continue "You haven't been travelling much, have you?"
"I've travelled." he said defending himself.
"Okay let me rephrase that. You haven't travelled to other countries, right?"
"Does Canada count?"
"Not for my story."
"Ah."
"Like I said, Europe isn't like America. In America the supernatural live quite far from each other. When they cross paths it usually ends violently." Derek nodded "But most importantly... Werewolves are the most common supernatural beings."
"So you were the minority?" he asked to verify.
I nodded "Yeah and not just the minority, I was the only one. There were no werewolves. They'd been wiped out in the second world war."
"How do you know?"
"Someone... from the majority told me."
I paused to see how he would respond. I knew that so far I'd given him nearly nothing but I also knew that after this the real shit was about to start.
Derek nodded "That doesn't explain that though..." he said as he gently brushed over the dark purple scars.
"No it doesn't." I said while looking down "Remember months ago... we were sitting in a car I think... I asked you about the first question I should've asked when I found out about the supernatural."
