Derek's POV
This was going wrong. My idea was to get Emberly to see that she has to fight here. Even if she has some sort of crush on me, she shouldn't have butted in! And against Liz of all people! Before anything could get too out of hand, I quickly dashed in between them.
"Liz." I said calming. "Try to stay in control."
She looked up at me. "I am."
She's still in control? She's making progress. I thought with a grin. My thoughts were interrupted when Liz stopped staring at me and looked at Emberly with an angry expression.
"Liz." I said while placing my hands on her upper arms "Don't kill Emberly."
I heard Emberly gasp at the word 'kill' but that wasn't what I was focusing on. Unlike other times, where Liz would relax from my gesture, this time she tensed up even more and her heart began to beat slightly faster. I stared at her for any indication but her expression stayed blank.
"Fine." she said while crossing her arms and standing back.
I turned around to deal with Emberly, only to see that she was grinning like an idiot. "Thank you for saving me." she chanted.
Oh god that idiot thought I did that for her.
Both me and Liz began to get uncomfortable because of her. Emberly didn't notice it and easily began talking again.
"Why did you do that? That was scary!" she said still looking very girly.
To be honest, I don't care if she's really girly or just fake but she needs to learn to survive and that won't be easy for her. She needs to see that.
"My god she's really stupid." I heard Liz whisper behind me. It was low enough for me to know that Emberly couldn't have heard it. I couldn't help but grin at her comment. Liz freaked out since she obviously hadn't expected me to hear it and she stayed quiet after that.
Right, focus on training Emberly. "That was fighting. That is what we're training here." I answered Emberly. "And Liz got that so she knew how to respond. In the real world, you'd be dead."
"I don't see why I would have to fight when I have you to protect me." she said flirty.
I groaned in annoyance. She wasn't taking it seriously. Fine, we'll just have to do it the hard way.
Without giving her a chance to react, I'd thrown her through the room. Her back hit the wall and she fell on her knees. I knew that she wasn't injured. There was no way she could've gotten injured from that.
"Ouchh" she whined as she slowly got up. "That hurt! Why would you do that?"
Liz looked at me to see what she needed to do. "Just stand back for now." She nodded and leaned against the wall.
Emberly gave a lot of trouble. At first she didn't wanted to fight me. She even tried to get me to capture her instead of just claw at her. She still saw it as a game. But after nearly 5 minutes of her flying through the room she began to get more defensive.
"Why is she allowed to just stand back?" Emberly whined as she nodded to Liz.
"Because she can beat you."
Emberly huffed annoyed and tried to block one of my punches. I heard Liz silently laugh behind me.
Liz's POV
It took Emberly a lot of time for her to begin to try to get a hit on Derek. After nearly 10 minutes of watching that horribly unfair fight, I decided to train myself. I knew that Derek saw me but since he didn't stop me, I figured it was alright.
Derek had this weird thing where he normally did pull ups. I'd never used it myself and before I saw him do it, I had no idea how to use it. But I'd seen him work out before so I figured I would be fine.
It was a lot harder than I thought. After a lot of struggling I managed to pull myself up a grand total of once before dropping myself and staring at it. Wasn't there some sort of easier way to do this?
After glaring at it for nearly a minute, I knew that there wasn't an easier way. Fine. I'll just have to do it again then.
I stretched myself to reach the bar and pulled myself up again. After some more failures I managed to get some sort of technique.
I thought back of our fight. I made some weird moves there... I thought to myself. I even headbutted him and gave myself a nosebleed. I'd wiped off the blood during Emberly's "fight" with Derek.
Why would I go in for a headbutt? That's so awkward! I basically rubbed my face into his!
Liz! Focus! Derek is standing right behind you! He'll notice.
Think of something else.
Think of something else.
Would he secretly be watching me right now?
Something else, right!
Think of something else.
Maybe if I just casually turn around...
Get a hold of yourself!
Okay I've got a plan. I'll just start doing push ups and while turning around I'll look if he's watching.
Cheesus I'm overthinking this.
I quickly executed my plan. As I turned around I looked straight in the, currently blue, eyes of Derek. I froze for a second since I hadn't expected him to actually look. I quickly dropped to the ground to do push-ups.
So he was looking. Geez way to make a fool out of yourself again. Why did I have to freeze at that point? I was basically staring. Ugh why am I so weird? He was probably just looking because I made an unexpected movement. And I have to freeze up and stare at him.
Forget it. Just focus on training.
