I heard someone pant above me as I got lifted up and down in a running like motion. But I couldn't be running, I was laying. More like hanging. Was someone carrying me?
And I couldn't breath very well. Every time I tried to inhale, sharp stings in my side prevented me from doing so. But a little pain has never stopped me. I took some short ragged breaths and sniffed the air. The fresh scent of the forest and the sweat of Derek instantly filled my nostrils.
"What were you thinking?" he mumbled through his panting.
I opened my eyes and saw what I'd been expecting; Derek running while carrying me. However, we weren't in the forest. We were running up the stairs to his loft. The scent of forest was old. His eyebrows were knit together in concern and focus as he pushed on.
After a few seconds of me staring at him, his eyes shot down and caught mine. Maybe he'd sensed it that I was staring or perhaps he'd heard my heartbeat go back to steady.
"What happened?!" he said with a voice filled with worry. "Why do you have a knife sticking out your side?"
He gently laid me on the couch and kneeled next to me. He immediately began to undress me to take a better look at the wound. It looked nasty and instead of the numb feeling it had just before I passed out, it was beginning to hurt worse. The skin around the cut was way paler than the rest and seemed to have swollen a bit. Blood still dripped out alongside the blade.
"Is she okay?" Stiles said as he came closer, revealing himself, Scott, Peter and Isaac.
"I'm okay-" Derek pulled at the knife trying to get it out. The hooks on the blade immediately dug deeper into my flesh, causing it to start bleeding even worse and beginning to hurt really bad. I gritted my teeth and shoved him away as a reflex.
"What's wrong?" Derek asked again as he stood up again looking more worried than angry.
"The blade has little hooks. Please don't just try to rip it out without warning." I groaned as I placed my hands on the skin around the place the blade pierced me.
"Oh shit." Isaac mumbled.
"What happened?" Peter urged again as he also began to inspect the wound.
"I ran into the girl."I groaned as I tried to ignore the hot stinging pain in my side.
"Who?" Scott asked. Suddenly his eyes grew wide in realization "The murderess girl?"
"Yup. That one."
"Are you crazy?!" Stiles exclaimed "You have a death wish, don't you?"
"Oh shut up I wasn't planning on fighting her. I just wanted to get some information about her-
"Then what were planning? Asking her nicely?"
"Stiles, shut up." I groaned "And I found out a lot about her. All but her identity but we know more than we should if she was a professional."
"What do you mean?" Derek asked still staring at the wound with his eyebrows knit together.
"Just... everything she did." My head began to pound but I pushed it away "She didn't notice me when I was tailing her, she was stunned for a few seconds when I caught her-"
"You caught her?" Scott asked.
"No. She too was tailing someone. 2 people actually. That's why I got in the fight... I tried to save one. She's killed the other."
Peter gently moved the blade to see how much he could move it. I hissed in pain and grabbed the couch to focus on anything else. Derek placed his hand around my ankle to distract me but Isaac and the others were busy with other things.
"So what did you find out?" Isaac asked.
"She's not a professional. She makes little mistakes like not scanning your surroundings. She right handed. She's really fast with both running and fighting. She isn't killing them for fun. She looked scared of something but I'm not quite sure. I know her voice. She has brown eyes. She didn't cover her face, she just had a normal hoodie. She knows about the supernatural but she can't identify them. Oh and she promised to find me and finish what she started."
"So you're not allowed to go outside anymore." Derek concluded.
"What? Why?"
"She's seen you. There's a killer after you. You're not going anywhere without backup." he said seriously.
I huffed amused. "How stupid do you think I am? I have a bit more experience than she apparently has. As opposed to her, I did wear my uniform."
"What?" Isaac asked "Uniform?" Stiles added as they stared at me in confusion.
I stared back with a blank expression. Oh no. Liz keep your fucking mouth shut! Derek and Peter already knew which made me forget that they didn't- Ah fuck. Should I tell them?
In the corner of my eye I saw Derek stare at me with a hint of curiosity. I'd let him down if I didn't trust them, wouldn't I?
Fiiiiine I'll tell them. But only because of Derek.
"Yeah you guys haven't really been well informed lately..." Where do I begin? "I killed people for a living the past month." I stated slowly as I watched their reaction. It might not have been the best explanation but the pain in my side was preventing me from thinking anything smart right now.
I squeezed my eyes shut as a sudden wave of nausea hit me. A weird buzzing noise began in my head and wouldn't go away. I tried taking some deep breaths but again it only went away by time. When I could hear the others again I saw them questioning me.
"What do you mean killed people?"
"You were like a hitman?"
"People went to you when they wanted someone gone?"
"Cheesus Derek you really only date serial killers, don't you?"
Derek lightly squeezed my ankle to show that he was happy with me. Yay you didn't fuck up entirely today!
Scott, Stiles and Isaac ranted on until Peter cut them off. "What do you mean uniform?" he directed at me.
"It's basically a large hood, making it impossible to see my hair and way harder to get a good look at my face and eyes, and a scarf to cover the bottom part of your face. Like this-" I said and pulled up my scarf until it was back in place.
"She's also not heard me talk so the only things she know is my height, posture and the fact that there is a supernatural creature after her." I said as the room gradually became blurrier.
"Oh and one thing I forgot to mention... I'm quite sure she's poisoned me."
