It's a complexity I just don't understand when it comes to sleeping. We are essentially dead for 6 to 8 hours every night, void of all emotions. Then we are revived to a flood of all that we are feeling in our life in an instant. The second our eyes open, all of the feelings rush to our brain like a river to the sea. I feel nothing while I'm asleep but the second I woke up this morning I was hit with a tidal wave of nerves and confusion.
Calum was curled up against my chest, sleeping soundly and I was forced to revisit the feeling I felt for him before I fell into sleep. I've never really felt love towards anything except Rose of course, so I had no clue what to expect. Maybe I shouldn't call it that yet. I'll just stick with... Infatuation? Sure, let's call it a deep infatuation for the sleeping boy next to me. I did my best to wiggle free from Calum's arms and climb up from the sofa.
My body still ached but overall I felt much better than I felt yesterday. My bare feet padded across the cold floor into the kitchen in search of water to soothe my aching throat. Just as I was gulping down the cool water I heard the doorbell ring. I sat the glass in the sink and moved slowly through the huge house to the door. Who is here at this time in the morning? I opened the door to see a smiling Luke.
"Morning Mikey, ready to get fitted for a suit?" He groaned and walked past me into the house.
"You have to come to the stupid ball too?" I asked.
"Yeah my parents just love your parents' parties." He said with sarcasm and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"I just woke up." I yawned running a hand through my messy hair.
"My parents were bugging me so I came over early." Luke shrugged as I led him back into the kitchen. We were looking for something to eat when Calum came wandering into the room.
He looked still half asleep and was rubbing his eyes slowly. He nearly resembled a puppy waking up from a good nights sleep and I smiled at the image in my head. Calum saw me staring and smiled sleepily back to me before moving behind me to grab a glass but he paused to poke my cheek with his finger. I turned back to see Luke smirking knowingly at the two of us.
"Did I interrupt something?" Luke asked with a raised brow and I felt my cheeks heat up.
"Shut up Luke." I growled and he threw his hands up in defense. Calum looked at me confused but I just offered him a smile.
We all ate a bowl of cereal and Luke laid on my bed while Calum and I got ready for the day. Luke always made me laugh at how nerdy he was and I'm so glad I had him as a friend. Plus I needed him as support for this dumb fundraiser ball my parents had scheduled at our home two nights from now. Once Calum was ready we all piled in my car to go to the men's store for our suit fitting.
"I really hate wearing suits." Luke groaned as I pulled open the door, making it chime as we entered the shop.
"Me too." I added and Calum nodded in agreement. The shop was empty for a moment but then a lady came around the corner with a smile on her face. The walls were lined with jackets and pants of every size and color with shelves of ties added in.
"Can I help you boys?" She asked in a sweet voice with a big smile.
"We are here to be fitted." I spoke for all three of us.
"Do you have a name for which the appointment is under?" She asked and Luke and I exchanged a look of confusion.
"Clifford." I said and she smiled.
"And Hemmings." Luke added and the lady nodded.
"I see the two of you are on the list but what about the third lad?" She asked in reference to Calum and I slung my arm around Calum's shoulder.
