Annika and Lola started painfully limping as best they could.
Lola couldn't hear them, but Annika could.
They were laughing, it was a mocking laugh and they were right above them.
Annika didn't try to lead; she had no idea where anything was around there. Lola seemed to somewhat know where she was going, but at the same time had no idea where she was.
It wasn't long until Lola could hear them too.
And soon they started landing on the ground.
Annika and Lola was huffing and puffing from pain. They stopped at one corner; the streets were becoming narrower, the buildings closer and the streets smaller. Annika and Lola came to a slow stop, the laughing didn't cease, it was right above their heads.
"Lola..." Annika said.
Lola looked down the street, a Dark Angel was leaning against one of the buildings, and even from the distance Lola could see their toothy grin as they pushed off the building and walked down another street away from view. Lola looked down another and saw another Dark Angel; this one just stood in one place, but turned around and started walking further down the road until it disappeared into the darkness.
Lola was now finding it hard to breathe now as a lump formed in her throat.
Annika turned around and stared at a group of Dark Angels. She stared at them with no expression, she softly elbowed Lola.
Lola turned around and gasped with wide eyes.
Lola held the gun up with shaky hands as the Dark Angels came closer, when they noticed the gun they just laughed.
Lola's hands were shaking violently she was surprised the gun didn't go off by itself.
They continued to laugh at her, "like you have the guts, runt," one called.
Lola went wide eyed as she shot at the Dark Angel, the bullet ricocheted off the ground; practically destroying the brick it hit, and hit one of the Dark Angels. They fell down and the other Dark Angels jumped with surprise. Lola went wide eyed as she looked at the glowing pink gun, "we need to keep moving," Annika instructed.
Lola looked down one of the roads, nobody was there.
Lola regripped Annika best she could and limped forwards, "I told you I'm no good with guns," Lola informed as they ran as best they could down the road. Annika suddenly pulled at Lola and Lola was sent to the side and down an alleyway.
There was barely enough room for Lola to sit down.
Lola watched as four quick running Dark Angels ran straight past them.
Lola could feel some relief fill her as she sighed. Annika put a finger to her lips for her to be quiet.
Lola obeyed pretty quickly.
All seemed silent for a moment, and Lola was almost convinced the Dark Angels had moved on. Then she heard a whimper that wasn't her own. She looked to Annika, her wings started to retract again, and she let out a yelp of pain as she grinded her teeth.
Lola stood next to her, "Annika... just fold them!" Lola hissed.
Annika ignored her as her wings grew shorter by several inches, "I can't..." she informed.
"Why? It'll end it quicker," Lola informed.
Annika shook her head as she retraction ceased, "I can't."
"Why won't you let them fold over?" Lola asked.
Annika simply shook her head as she let out a small sigh. Lola looked to the road and all of time seemed to freeze momentarily. Lola let off a high pitch scream as one of the Dark Angels suddenly started reaching for her with their bony hands.
