"Welcome, son. " The king greeted his son, as he came in front of him, a small sad smile in his lips.

The boy nodded at seeing his father." You wanted to speak with me, I assume." He said in a emotionless tone.

"Yes, actually, " The old king said ,turning to look outside the window, hands crossed behind him. A scowl reached his face. "You know that we have been in war for so long."

The boy said nothing, urging his father to go on.

Not hearing anything from the other in the room the king continued." Well ,I think I may have found a solution to end it,"he paused for a moment as he turned to look at his son directly in the eyes," and it includes you ,my dear boy." 

"And what may that be ,if I can ask, father ?" the prince asked, slightly curious inside, but not letting anything show on the outside.

The King sighed ,showing that he was tired of everything happening, from the long war ,to making his son do what he had in mind, but with a little hope that this may change something. "You know the kingdom next to ours, I suppose ?"

"Of course," the boy confirmed, his eyes never leaving his father's.

"Well, as you know they are in war with the same emeny, and also I am a close friend with their king, so we have came to an agreement," he paused, sighing, "We will unite our kingdoms into one. And this total union can only be done in one way."

"...Marriage," the boy said.

"Yes unfortunately ," a sad look came in the old man's face," as The Crown Prince and the only child of the King and Queen, this union falls on your shoulders.....You will have to marry... The Crown Prince of their kingdom. "

The Prince stayed silent, slowly registering his father's words.
"Wait...The Crown Prince ?"

"Yes," his father confirmed," He is the only member of their royal family at your age. The second born, the princess, is only three years old. That marriage just wouldn't work. " with that said he waited to see his son's reaction.

A long moment of silence passed before the teen replied, his gaze shifting down at the floor,".... I understand. "

"You- wait what?!" The king said in disbelief.

The teen looked at his father again, a sad smile reached his lips, but never his eyes, it couldn't anymore . "I understand, father. This ...this must be done for the sake of the future of our kingdom... I have seen the pain that resides in every person of this kingdom...even in the children's eyes. If the only way to stop it, is by me marrying the other prince ,I...I'm okey with it." The price started walking towards the door, he only stopped in the doorway for a moment. 

"I will marry him."

With that he vanished in the shadows of the castle.
