I ran around the yard avoiding the splashes coming from Noah's water gun. "Watch out Antha! I'm coming for you!"
"Stop calling me Antha!" I complained as Noah shot my waist with ice cold pool water. "My name is Sam."
"Yeah," Noah nodded, filling up his water gun in the pool. "Sam...Antha." I rolled my eyes and ran up to the deck. "You can't run," he snickered. "This thing can reach across the whole house!"
"Yeah, but your mom will kill you if you get water on the food," I reminded. He shrugged.
"I can aim. I'm athletic, unlike you." He shot water across the yard it came flying my way so I jumped to the side. It hit the glass sliding door of Noah's house that his mom happened to be standing next to inside. She spun around at the noise and opened the door.
"Noah Cameron Schnapp, I told you to keep the water in the pool!"
      "Sorry Mom!" He winced.
"Why don't you two get dressed? Dad is almost done grilling." Noah nodded and threw down his water gun.
"Where's Chloe?" He asked as he walked towards me.
"Inside showering," I explained. "She fell in the mud while you were looking for the water guns in the shed." He chuckled and handed me a towel. I took it and opened the door.
" Mrs. Marcus and Viv are coming in a few minutes," Mrs Schnapp told us.
"Ugh, Viv," I rolled my eyes.
       "Viv is cool," Noah shrugged.
"Not when you live with her," I groaned. "14 year olds are so weird." I grabbed my shirt and shorts from my bag and slid them on over my bathing suit.
"That'll be us in three years," he laughed.
"But we'll never grow out of our water gun fights like Viv did," I pointed out. "And listen, I know we only have three weeks of summer left, but I have some huge ideas of what we can do." Noah smiled gently and nodded.
"Yeah, maybe," he said quickly.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing," he assured me. "I just...I'll tell you later ok?" I nodded. I didn't know what Noah was up to, but I could wait to find out.

My mom and sister came a few minutes later and Mr. Schnapp called us all outside to eat. We sat in our normal spots. Mrs. Schnapp and my mom have been best friends since they were little. They always sat together and talked about whatever they could come up with. Mr. schnapp usually finished cooking by the time my dad got home from work and drove himself over, so they sat together and played cards. Then Chloe, Noah, Viv and I sat together.
Yeah, we're your usual family friends. And we're even more basic than you think. Noah, Chloe and I walk to school together every morning, we have our barbecues - like this one- weekly, we go on vacation together, and even our dogs are best friends. So yeah. We're your usual family friends. But today, something not so usual happened. Around 20 minutes into eating, Mrs. Schnapp stood up and clinked her knife against her glass.
"Excuse me," she said shyly. "Sorry to interrupt, I just wanted to make an announcement." I saw Noah fidget and look to me. Could this be what he was talking about? "So, I am so proud to tell you guys that Noah booked a part on a Netflix show, Montauk that films in Georgia." My whole family was gasping and cheering.
"Noah, congratulations," my mom gushed. Noah smiled.
"Wait, if it films in Georgia..." I prompted.
"I was getting there," Mrs. Schnapp looked down. "Noah and I will be temporarily moving to Atlanta in two weeks and the shooting is going to run through next February."
"Wait, so you won't start middle school with us?" I asked Noah gesturing to Chloe and I. He shook his head.
"I'm sorry Sam," he frowned. You know Noah's upset when he calls me Sam instead of Antha.
"Don't be sorry," I reassured him. "This is your dream." He smiled and reached his arms out for a hug. I hugged him and sighed. I didn't know how I was going to get through the next school year without Noah.

Noah left for Atlanta two weeks later, and it was one of the worst days of my life. I spent that whole day with Chloe, but neither of us talked much. My family and I watched as Stranger Things (Montauks new name) became a huge success. I watched as Noah slowly cared less and less about me. He posted pictures with a girl named Millie with captions like "my best friend." I still had Chloe, but it wasn't the same. I wanted my best friend back.
