After I finished printing out all of the pictures that Julia sent me, I put them into a little envelope and headed over to Julia's. I felt like I was forgetting something, but I couldn't figure out what. She lives a few blocks away, so it's not too long of a walk. Everyone else would be getting to her house in around an hour, so we had some time to set up the poster. I got to her house and saw her bedroom light on and her mom in the window by the door. I rang the bell and she immediately walked over and opened it.
"Hi Samantha!" she smiled as she let me in.
"Hi Mrs. Raskin," I replied. Mrs. Raskin is the most chill mom ever. She's probably my favorite of my friends' moms beside Noah's.
"Julia's upstairs," she told me.
"Ok, thanks!" I walked up the stairs and turned right into Julia's room. I saw her on her floor with the poster. She already had her outfit for the party on. She looked up at me as she heard me walk in.
"Hey!" she smiled and picked up the poster. "Look, I finished the inside." It looked really neat and cool. It read "Noah, We'd look picture perfect at Sadie Hawkins" in pink letters with black outline.
"It looks awesome!" I exclaimed. "Here, I have the pictures." I handed her the envelope and she took it excitedly and started to pour them out.
"Yesss, thank you," she gushed. "Can you help me lay them out?" I nodded. We strategically arranged the pictures to fit around the perimeter and then glued them on. By the time we were done, the poster looked perfect. "I love it," she smiled. "Thank you so much Antha."
"Of course!" I responded.
"Who are you asking?" she asked me.
"I'm not sure yet," I shook my head. "Maybe James Nicholas, you know, Andrew's cousin?" She nodded.
"He's cute! You can ask him tonight!"
"I don't have anything ready!" I laughed. "I'll probably make something and do it one day after school, I don't know." She nodded then paused.
"Wait, did you bring an outfit for the party?" she asked. I felt my heart skip a beat for a second.
"Ugh, I knew I forgot something," I groaned.
"Don't worry," she scoffed. "I have a closet full of options that you can choose from."
"Thanks Jules," I sighed. "I don't know how I forgot." I went to Julia's closet and started shifting through for a second before stopping. "One small problem," I reminded her. "I'm 5'3." She rolled her eyes remembering that she's 5'7 and none of her clothes would fit me. Then suddenly, her eyes lit up.
"Oh I have the perfect thing!" she exclaimed running to her closet and reaching towards the floor. "I bought this online and they sent me the wrong size! I was gonna send it back but you can have it!" She handed me a bag and I looked inside. There was a one sleeved black shirt with a small rip of the side and jeans with a matching belt. It was gorgeous.
"Oh my god, this is perfect!" I smiled. "Thank you so much!" She smiled.
"No problem. You need to warm James up for when you ask him to the dance," she teased. I rolled my eyes and threw one of her pillows at her. She giggled and shook her head.A little while later, everyone texted saying they were on their way. I had changed into Julia's outfit and I was OBSESSED. Julia and I went outside and stood with the poster. We ended up attaching some string fairy lights to the outline to make it glow. It looked so sick. The first person to get here was Jordan and she was obsessed with the poster.
"Literally, that's so cool," she gushed. "If I was a guy, I'd be jealous of Noah." Julia and I giggled. Next was Noah Kaller. He made fun of Julia for how much effort she put in while Jordan yelled at him. Their personalities clash sometimes but they're still best friends...Then finally, we saw Noah and Chloe's car drive up. Everyone but Julia backed up a little and watched. Jordan was recording and it was definitely gonna go on her snapchat story. The car door opened and Chloe walked out. Her jaw dropped and she moved out of the way. Finally, Noah stepped out and immediately looked at the poster. His jaw copied Chloe's and he looked in awe.
"Oh my god, Julia!" he smiled. At that moment, he looked over to me, almost asking for approval. Looking back it makes no sense, but in the moment, it felt right to nod, so I did. He seemed to understand that because he looked back to Julia and spoke "yes, of course I'll go to the dance with you!" Jordan squealed and Noah and Julia hugged. I don't know why I felt a little weird. I guess I just don't see Julia and Noah together anymore. Whatever. Everyone talked about the poster for a little then headed inside.
Noah was standing next to me and he looked me up and down. "This is not yours," he said. "no way."
"It's Julia's" I laughed. He nodded chuckling.
"Well you look really good," he told me. I smiled and we went upstairs.
