After splashing around in the pool for a few minutes, James helped me out and we went inside to find some towels. We went into one of the six bathrooms and opened the closet. James handed me a towel and i wrapped it around me. "Thanks," I said. "Although I wouldn't need it if you didn't push me in." He shook his head chuckling and wiped off his face. Suddenly, his phone started buzzing like crazy. I jumped as he pulled it out of his pocket.
"Shoot, Andrew's been looking for me but my phone wasn't working."
"Because of the pool," I realized. "I'm so sorry."
"No worries, it's working now. It's water resistant," he explained. "But I better find him. Catch up with you later?" I nodded and smiled. He returned the favor and walked out. I took a moment to absorb what had just happened. I basically just had a movie moment. And I had a date to the dance. I walked out of the bathroom and almost immediately saw Chloe.
"Antha, why are you soaked?" she laughed.
"James pushed me," I explained.
"Yikes," she chuckled. "Your mascara looks real cute." I rolled my eyes.
"I know I look like a demon," I sighed. "I don't even care anymore, there's so many people here I can barely think."
"Very true," she agreed. "I'm this close to calling the police so it gets shut down." She held up her fingers so they were barely separate. I laughed.
"Honestly sounds good," I told her.
"Well, I gotta pee so move over," she said walking towards me to get to the bathroom. I moved to the side and she went in. I was already tired as heck, so I went into the living room in an attempt to find somewhere to sit down. As I was surveying the room for a chair, couch, or even an empty area of floor, I saw Noah on his phone.
"Yo Schnapp!" I exclaimed. He looked up startled and sighed with relief when he saw it was me and not a crazy fan.
"Hey, Antha," he said looking me up and down. "Go for a swim?" he chuckled.
"James pushed me in," I responded as we started walking towards a couch.
"Of course he did," he shook his head half laughing, half irritated.
"It's ok, I pulled him in with me."
"That's my girl," he laughed. "I met about six girls who 'thought i was cute' and asked for my snap." I chuckled. That basically just means they want clout. I constantly forget that Noah is famous and that people want to be his friend just for the attention.
"Did you give it to any of them?" I asked. He shook his head.
"Yeah no," he laughed. "One of them even asked me to go to their prom in Eastchester."
"Oh! That reminds me," I said. "I asked James to Sadie Hawkins and he said yes!"
"Oh! Awesome!" Noah exclaimed. "I'm really happy for you." He seemed as if he was trying to convince himself James was a good guy. Anybody else would've been fooled by his act, but I'm his best friend.
"I know you don't like him that much, but I promise he's a good guy," I assured him. He nodded.
"Yeah, yeah I know," he said. "I know you have good judgement so I approve of him now." I smiled and hugged him.
"Thanks Noah," I whispered.
"No prob Antha," he responded. "Also," he continued separating the hug. "Julia told me you helped with the poster, so thanks."
"Oh yeah, for sure," I shrugged.
"So was it like, your idea?" Noah asked.
"What?"
"For her to ask me?"
"Oh," I realized. "No, she just needed help with the pictures so I did that." He nodded.
"Cool cool. It looked really awesome."
"Why thank you very much," I smiled. "It took me a whole half hour."
"Is that all I'm worth?" He asked.
"No," I assured him. "You're worth like seven minutes top, Julia is worth 30." He rolled his eyes.
"Careful or I'll throw you in the pool like James did." Just then, someone somehow screamed louder than the rest of the noise of the party.
"Cops!"
