After concluding that the best way to console Julia was to pretend last night didn't even happen, We decided to bore Noah out of his mind and look online for dresses to Sadie Hawkins.
"I just found the cutest thing ever on Lulu's," Chloe gushed.
"I saw that!" Julia exclaimed looking over to Chloe's phone. "They didn't have my size, unfortunately."
"Who are you going with Chlo?" Noah asked.
"Josh Alpine," she told him. "I asked him at the party. Figure he's the closest I can get to Zac Efron."
"Yes Chlo," I hyped her up. Chloe doesn't like guys too often. I don't blame her either. She's so much cooler than most of the guys at out school.
"So I wanna wear this blue dress to go with the blue bow tie he's gonna wear," she giggled.
"Guys, what are we even doing," Noah groaned. "I feel very excluded.
"Here, help me look for a dress," I laughed. He rolled his eyes but came over to Julia's bed where I was sitting. Noah has a little bit of a hidden interest for fashion. Due to all of the red carpet events he attends, he has an opinion or two on looks for parties and he always helps me out since I'm extremely indecisive. I scrolled through dresses, pausing occasionally for feedback.
"Nah, you're not gonna like that angle cut thing on the bottom, you'll think it makes you look too short," Noah pointed out. I nodded. He was 100% right.
"Ok, well which of these do you like better?" I asked scrolling back and forth between two dresses. He took my phone and zoomed into one of them.
"This one," he said. He then looked up to me and made very direct eye contact before nodding and looking back down. "Yeah, this one'll look so cool with your eye color."
"You think?" I asked not fully convinced. "I feel like it'll make me look so like squashed."
"No, trust me," Noah said. "You'll look so pretty."
"Thanks," I smiled.
"When Noah's better at fashion than all of us," Chloe chuckled.
"Got something you wanna tell us?" Julia teased. We all know Noah isn't gay but Julia and Jordan especially like to mess with him because he does acting and stuff. Noah made a mocking face and rolled over on Julia's bed. I guess Noah rolling muted the sound of Mrs. Raskin walking upstairs, because she knocked right after.
"Come in," Julia spoke. Her mom cracked open the door holding an envelope.
"Hi, i'm so sorry to bother you guys," she said. "Officer Jack and the detective came by and dropped off the bag of things that you had...last night," she told us. "They want me to go through everything with all of you to see if anything could have any significance." Julia sighed but nodded. It was clear she was annoyed but knew this was important. Her mom started by pulling out a plastic bag with a pen. "They found the purple pen used to write that note," she told us. The pen was white and read "Microsoft offices Pittsburgh" across the side.
"Great," Noah sighed. "that means nothing."
"It means the person has been to Pittsburgh!" Chloe pointed out.
"Or the pen just came from there," Noah scoffed. Everyone sighed together as Mrs. Raskin pulled out the next thing. It was a singular grey button.
"Anyone recognize this?" she asked in a hopeful, yet doubtful manner. Everyone shook their heads.
"Where did that even come from?" I asked.
"It was in Julia's shirt when she came home. They're guessing it fell off of the boy's shirt at one point, but it could be anyone's," she sighed. We were no closer to knowing who it was.
"It doesn't matter who it was," Julia growled. "Nothing even happened."
"You were given sex drugs!" Mrs. Raskin exclaimed before immediately regretting it. "I'm sorry, I know it's frustrating. We just want to know who it was so they get what they deserve." Mrs. Raskin proceeded to show us everything else, but there was nothing that provided any evidence or clues. I think we all knew Julia was right. We had to put this behind us for now.
