"Sam, you coming over tonight?" My friend Julia asked.
"Nah sorry, Noah gets home in a few hours," I reminded her as I shoved my science binder into my backpack.
"Oh yea," she said. Julia is one of my best friends so she's pretty used to me having to basically always be with the Schnapps. "Tell him I say hey."
"Will do," I nodded and zipped up my bag. "I have to meet Chloe at her locker, but tell Jordan and Blake sorry I couldn't come over."
"Ok, see you Monday!" Julia waved and I pulled my backpack over my shoulder. Chloe's locker was around the corner right by Noah's. Except Noah's locker had been locked for months.
"Chloe!" I exclaimed over the noise of kids. She looked up and nodded at me acknowledging she saw me.
"You ready?" She asked. I nodded. We walked down the hall towards the door to walk home. I heard a group of girls that I can't stand whispering as we walked by.
      "Chloe!" One of them exclaimed.
      "Yeah Daph?" She asked.
"Tell Noah we say hi." Chloe nodded and we kept walking. Don't get me wrong, Noah getting back from filming or publicity was always great, but it also came with the girls. Particularly Daphne Boockvar. Daphne's been obsessed with Noah since season one. I'm not saying everyone else isn't, but she's a little bit more.
"Still not used to having a famous brother," Chloe muttered under her breath.
"It's weird," I agreed. We walked out of the building and down the street. We live only a few blocks from school so we got to Chloe's house in a few minutes. She reached into her bag and scrambled around.
"Oh shoot! I left my key inside!" She groaned.
"It's all good," I chuckled pulling out a key and unlocking the door. Chloe's jaw dropped.
"Why do you have my house key?" She laughed.
"Your mom gave me one in case you forgot yours one day," I explained as I walked inside. Chloe's dog spaghetti greeted me with kisses on my legs.
"Where is Karine? Her son gets home in like two hours and she's not even home yet," Chloe sighed putting down her backpack. She always called her mom by her first name when she got annoyed with her.
"How's he getting back from the airport?" I asked.
"Karine!" Chloe laughed. "But she's still at work."
"She'll be home before 6," I assured her.
"Sure hope so," Chloe shook her head. "Are your parents and Viv coming over?" She went over to the cabinet and took out a bag of pretzels.
"I think so," I shrugged. "My mom can't wait to see Noah." My mom And Noah have always had something special. Karine always says it's because before she knew she was having twins, my mom guessed she'd be having a boy. I don't really know why she thinks that'd mean they'd have a special connection, but something had to cause it.
       "What about you?" Chloe asked.
"What?" I asked raising an eyebrow. Chloe ate a pretzel.
"Are you excited to see Noah."
"Yeah of course!" I exclaimed a little too loudly.
      "Sam..."Chloe sighed.
"Of course I'm excited..." I started. "I just don't think he's too excited to see me."
"Sam, I know you think Noah forgot about you, but you're still his best friend." I shrugged.  "Trust me," Chloe smiled. I smiled back.

Sure enough, Karine got home a few minutes later. She asked Chloe and I if we wanted to come to the airport and of course we said yes. I don't know why, but I thought maybe if I was there when he first saw Chloe and his mom he would use all of the excitement and be happy to see me too.
The whole car ride there, I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen when Noah saw me. The last time he saw me after months of being in Atlanta, he hugged me, said he missed me, and that was basically it. I know Noah still loves me, he kinda has to with how much time we spend together, but I couldn't help but feel replaced by all of his new friends.
We got to the airport and waited by the terminal where Noah and his dad would get off. I couldn't stop fidgeting. The plane landed and was circling to come to the gate. The fact that Noah was on that plane and I was about to see him made me feel like time stopped. Chloe must have noticed because she put her hand on my knee.
"It's ok," she whispered. I smiled weakly.
The plane finally started unloading. I didn't know where Noah was sitting on the plane so I had no idea how to predict when he'd come out. All I knew was that I'd let him reunite with his family first before even trying to get a hug or wave.
The people were coming out in huge groups and people were crowding through the airport. I couldn't see anything or anyone. All I could do was hear. I heard people greeting each other, the noise of the plane, and I heard the gentle music playing in the airport. Most importantly, I heard a familiar voice say "Mom!"
