Noah's mom, Karine, talked to me the whole drive home, but I couldn't think of anything besides Julia wanting to Facetime. I had nothing to worry about, right? Maybe she just wanted to rant about something. When we got to my house I walked inside and immediately went to my room. I pulled up my contacts and scrolled down to Julia's contact. I then took a deep breath and pressed the Facetime icon. I heard my phone hum a few times before the screen read "connecting". Seconds later, Julia's face popped up on the screen.
"Hey!" She smiled.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked a little faster than I planned to. I couldn't help it, I was nervous. Did I do something wrong?
"I need your help," she said seriously which certainly didn't ease my nerves. At least I knew I didn't do something wrong.
"With what?" I asked. She took a deep breath.
"You know the Sadie Hawkins dance?" she asked. I felt loads of tension leave my body.
"Yeah, yeah, why?"
"I need your help asking a guy," she responded.
"Oh, yeah for sure. Who?"
"Noah," she answered. I felt my eyes involuntarily widen.
"Schnapp?" I asked as my voice cracked. She dated Noah for a little bit a few years ago but I didn't think she still had feelings for him.
"Yeah... just as friends though," she assured me. "Can you help me set up the ask?" Girls always went all out when they asked the guys. Kinda like a promposal. It's extremely dorky, but fun.
"Well," I started. I don't know what I was worrying about. Julia's a nice girl and one of my closest friends. Plus I know she's not just using Noah for the clout. "Yeah, yeah of course."
"Ah, thank you so much," she smiled. "I wanted to ask him at outside of my house so when he drives up to get ready for the party, it'll be all set up."
"That sounds fun," I responded. "So like a poster?"
"Yeah," she started. She then adjusted herself as if she was getting ready to pour out her life story. "I wanna cover the outline in pictures of us and then in the inside I wanna write 'we'd look picture perfect at Sadie Hawkins.' What do you think?"
"That could be really cute," I answered. "What do you need my help with?"
"I'm so bad at editing pictures and making collages and stuff and I don't even have a working printer right now and I know you have your photo wall and you've done a bunch of stuff with pictures so I need your help with that part." I nodded. Sounded easy enough.
"So you need this by tonight?" I asked. She nodded.
"I'm already making the inside of the poster right now and I have an album on my phone of the pictures I wanna use," she explained. "Here I'll send them now." She picked up her phone, pressed a few buttons and I got a text with a photo album.
"Ok awesome, I'll put a cool editing preset on them and then print them out," I told her.
"Ok, thank you so much, and do you wanna come over a little early like seven to help me put them on? And I can help you do your makeup for the party and stuff."
"Is that a hint that I'm bad at makeup?" I laughed. She shook her head and rolled her eyes chuckling.
"Just looking for a way to repay you."
"Gotchu," I answered laughing. "Well, I'll see you later."
"Bye!" she smiled and hung up. Well this should be interesting. Noah will probably say yes, but it's just gonna seem weird to not be able to go to the dance with Noah... Well not WITH him, but we always walk into parties and stuff together. Whatever, I'm thinking about it too much. Plus, I have to go print the pictures.
