"August will you shut up?" I whisper yell as I open Ava's bedroom door.

"My bad, I'm excited."

"Why? It ain't your birthday yet its hers."

"Because my princess turnin eight, and my birthday in two days don't try to play me." He says plucking the back of my neck.

"Alright alright shh." I say as we both walk into Ava's room.

"Chill before your hot ass breath blow out the candle." He says, makin me roll my eyes.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAYYY!!" We both yell as I turn the light on.

Our big smiles soon fade away as we see Ava wake up and look at us, before turning over and going back to sleep. This child here...

"Yo fault." August laughs.

"How its my fault?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Cause you do the same thing. Its all in the genes." He admits as he walks to the other side of the bed where Ava is now facing and shakes her awake. "Ava."

"Hmm?" She opens her eyes and looks up at him.

"Its your birthday!" I say.

I walk to the other side of her bed and stand next to August, where he takes the plate out of my hand.

"Wait today the 1st?" She asks, sittin up and pressin the home button on her iPad.

"Yes."

She gasps loudly as she quickly gets up and stands on her bed.

"I'm finally eight!"

This is the reaction we're used to from her. She loves her birthday.

"Yesss happy birthday, baby."

"Thank you mama." She hugs me.

"Happy birthday, Princess."

"Thank you daddy." She lets go of me and then hugs August.

"Blow out ya candle." He tells her, holding up the plate with a cupcake on it.

She smiles and closes her eyes, blowing out the candle.

"Now hurry up and get ready for school so I can do your hair." I say.

"But the most important reason you rushin to get ready for school is because I made you some breakfast." August smiles.

"Do I really have to go to school today? I mean it is my birthday."

"Yes, yes you do." I say.

"Fine. Daddy what you made?" She asks, turning to him.

"Some waffles, eggs, bacon, and biscuits."

"Ouuu yeaaa bacon."

"Betta hurry up before it gets cold." He says, walking around her bed to walk out the door.
