August

As Hazel walks off into the distance, I mock her while Ava giggles into her hands, making sure she isn't too loud.

"How bout you clean up...." I say sittin on one of the sofas. "While you clean up."

"Nu uh mama said you gotta help me." She says, reminding me so much of the girls when they were younger.

"I'll give you $10."

"$10 to clean all this?" She laughs, making me smack my teeth.

"How much you want?"

"$50."

"Girl ion even pay my driver t-"

"MAAAA!" She yells, makin me pull her over to me and cover her mouth.

"What girl?!" Hazel calls back out to her.

"Never mind I was bout to ask you if you wanted me to put your purse back inna room but ima just leave it right here!" The lie rolls smoothly off of her tongue.

In fact, it was so smooth it had me thinking what else she done lied about cause you ain't a expert at lyin when it's ya first time.

"Yea just leave it right there! Matter fact bring it here!"

Gettin out of my grasp, she goes over to the purse and picks it up before walking out of sight with it. I hear her faint where you at and Hazel's in the bathroom, before Ava comes running back in the living room.

"Now where were we?"

"You was tellin me you wanted $50."

"Oh yeah I'm bumping it up to $65."

"For what?" I ask makin a face.

"An extra $15 for makin me lie to mama."

"That's bs." I say, watching my language.

"Let's see if mama thinks so."

As her head goes back and her mouth opens, ready to yell out to Hazel, I smack my teeth yet again.

"Aight man dang. You always want tell your mama somethin, Ima give you 65."

As she smiles innocently and holds her hand out, I notice she wants me to give her the $65 before she starts cleaning up.

Getting my wallet from my joggers pocket, I get $65 out and give it to her. Once I put my wallet back in my pocket, I lean back on the sofa and watch Ava hold it up in the light to make sure it's real.

"Whatchu know bout that?" I laugh.

She never fails to amaze me. It's like everyday she's growing a year older and learning new crazy things. She's slowly getting more and more like me.

"I saw the lady do that when I went to the sto' with my nanny." She laughs as well.

"Oh."

She put the money in her pocket and starts cleaning up, folding the covers first. When she was done folding the four covers, she came over to the sofa I was on and tried to move it back over to the wall with me on it.
