Karter

I watch as Demi and my dad move around the room in an overwrought state. Neither of us know what exactly is going on with Justyce, but when I see them quickly leaving the room, I waste no time following suit.

"Baby call the ambulance." I hear my dad say.

He holds Justyce close to him and she lies her head on his shoulder. Still coughing uncontrollably and gasping for air, she then looks around before her eyes land on me.

My eyes begin to water seeing how helpless she looks.

I'm overwhelmed with emotions -anger, fear, unhappiness, anxiety, disgust, and shame- as all of them clearly show as I enter my parent's room. The one I show the most is guilt because none of this would've happened if they didn't have to come to MY room and leave her unattended.

Since they all were basically on a rampage, mom and dad to get to their phones and Justyce to go back and forth between the two for help, I have to be the one to stay calm for her.

While dad calls the police for an ambulance, I don't know who Demi is calling, but I know it must've been TT or grandpa. They're always the first to be called whenever she needs to talk.

As Demi and my dad walk out of the room yet again, I follow them. This time, I head to my room while they go downstairs.

I look around the room for my phone until I remember my dad took it once we got in his truck. Mentally screaming in frustration, I close my eyes and try to calm myself down.

Once I do, I head downstairs. Both my dad and Demi are still on their phones so I look around for where my dad can have mine. I guess he caught on to what was going on because he takes it out of his pocket before handing it to me.

No matter what's going on, whether it's just a cough or a cold, I go to google for everything. As much as I hate google because they always have me thinking I have cancer or some type of disease, I still allow myself to rely on it for my problems and curiosity.

I go to safari and my fingers have a mind of their own as my brain tries to catch up to what I'm typing. Seeing all the results pop up from the question I just typed, all of them were saying she's having an asthma attack.

"Daddy she's having an asthma attack!"

"I know baby the paramedics are on their way."

I search up how to attend to an asthma attack from home and click on the first link that pops up. Seeing how they were saying to take puffs from the inhaler, I scroll down some more until I am now reading the section that is telling me how to attend to it without medical help or medication. Seeing the first phrase my eyes land on, which is remaining me to remain calm, I look up.

Demi is pacing back and forth explaining what is happening to whomever is on the phone, my dad is explaining the state Justyce is in, and Justyce is now screaming in fear because she isn't getting any oxygen to her lungs. No one is calm.

I stand up with my phone in my hands and reach out for Justyce. She raises her arms to me and allows me to take her. I then walk into the kitchen, not too far away from my dad and Demi to constantly check on her, but far enough to where she isn't relying on their emotions for how she is reacting.
