May 2nd

Lights flash.

Screams echo around her.

Her heart is beating, hammering against her ribcage like a bird trying to escape.

Her wand is at her side, useless.

Her whole body has frozen, a constant in the shifting environment around her.

Her eyes are glued straight and her world is slowly halting to a stop.

No.

The body before her, the face staring at her accusingly. Where were you?

Her hand aches from clutching her wand tightly. A small distraction.

The brown eyes are full of blame, staring straight into her broken soul.

The cool, pale face, slack and blank; her soft skin smeared crimson.

Crimson.

Her pale, slender neck, stained a dark red, seeping steadily.

Her face, her own face, staring straight back at her.

Merlin I've died. I'm dead.

The startling shock of a scream. "Lavender! No! No no!"

The stranger, falling to her knees beside the body, clutching at the shoulders.

What was wrong with her?

Her body is numb, frozen as if dipped into the Great Lake.

Lavender. Not her. Lavender. Her sister.

And Parvati's eyes meeting hers, the mirror image of the gaze on her sister.

Accusing.
