A/N; Suicide attempt is presented in this one shot so please proceed with caution if this is a trigger for you, thank you.

Zoe stood on the edge of the balcony, peering down at the activity on the ground underneath her. Her eyes were puffy and her cheeks tearstained, but this was the most peaceful she had felt in a very long time. The hurricane swirling around inside of her finally did its damage on her, and she was ready to give up now. Her grip on the railing was about as loose as it could get and she was just about to step all the way off when she heard something from behind her, almost like.. a voice. She turned her head and was met with a small blonde, who looked no older than she did, who stood watching her with a slack jaw and frightened eyes. Something about her seemed so familiar, it was puzzling really, but she just ignored the girls presence and focused her attention back to the task at hand.

"Are you sure you really want to do that?" The stranger finally spoke, her voice soft but her words clear as day in her ears. She wanted to say that she had never been more sure of anything in her life, but she found the words sticking in her esophagus, so she said nothing and continued to hang from the side of the building, the intent to jump now becoming hazy in her whirlwind of a mind.

"You don't really want to let go of the railings, because if you did, you would have done so by now. You're hesitating, and why?" The girl spoke again, and she could feel the closeness of her from where she was wobbling on the edge, and it nearly caused her to lose her footing but she found her balance once more, looking out into the starry night sky, which almost seemed to be taunting her.

"I do, and I will. So get the fuck out of here if you don't want to see me go splat on the pavement." Zoe's voice was cold and unrelenting, but she felt her hesitancy begin to consume her more and more, which was becoming quite frustrating to her. She had left her birthday party to kill herself, and now, she couldn't even manage to fucking do that right. She felt the tears pricking at her eyes again but she angrily brushed them away, not wanting to appear as weak to someone she did not know or did not even care to know.

"You're upset, I get it. But taking your life isn't going to do shit for anyone except yourself. Are you really going to leave your family and friends grieving the loss of someone they love all because of a simple moment of impulsivity? I've been in your place before, and it sucks to feel like you have no one, but you do." The blonde was standing next to her now, her hair whipping around her face due to the harsh wind that had just started blowing around them. It was a metaphor to the situation, a hurricane per se, all because of her. She chose not to look at the smaller girl, and instead moved a few inches back from the ledge, the intent to jump now gone.

"Yeah, you're right. But no one loves me, or would even miss me when I'm gone. So what's the point of continuing to suffer?" She moved towards the edge of the ledge once more but the hand on hers halted her movements.

"If someone doesn't love you, then there's always an opportunity to find someone who will. But if you go, you'll never see happiness or love of any kind anymore. It'll be dark and lonely and empty and is that really what you deserve? Is that how low you think yourself to be?" She sounded sad as she finished her mini rant, and her heart ached for reasons unknown to herself. She had no idea who the girl was, but she felt guilty for upsetting her, so she gave her a look and moved closer to her, reaching her hand out when the wind suddenly blew her backwards and she barely had the chance to grab onto the railing before she fell, the air sucked from her lungs as she dangled one handed from the shaky barrier.

"Fuck! Give me your hand!" She demanded, throwing a small hand towards her, presumably to pull her back over the protective barrier. She shook her head furiously and prayed that the barrier would support her weight, but to her horror, she began to slip further and further down. Her heartbeat was pounding wildly in her ears, and she feared she would have a heart attack and die right there, but she looked into the blonde's green eyes, and she felt.. Safe.
