Ever since Milo told me the news, I was ecstatic. We had been hanging out the whole time I was down here. We had gotten so close over the course of a month and I was spending winter break down in LA. Aquaman was coming out soon and the premier was coming up and I would be attending. I was in my room when I got a call saying I would need to meet the styling team at a nearby hotel so they could get me ready for the premier. I got in my car and drove to the hotel. I invited Milo as my plus one and date I guess, but he was preparing for the Dancing with the Stars live tour. I decided to go alone and make the best. Since I would be moving in two months. As I sat in the chair I plugged in my earbuds to listen to the music I made recently and tried to calm myself down. This was the first event I had ever been to. And no one, and I mean no one had known who I was until this. I finished getting ready and drove to the theater where the premier was being held. I got out of my car and was directed to the red carpet. I wasn't asked for many photos which I was prepared for. No one is gonna ask for photos from a nobody from the Bay Area. I sat in my seat waiting for the movie to start and decided to walk around after a while. I was alone and hungry so I asked one of the managers where I could get some popcorn for the movie. I walked over to the counter where he directed me to and waited.
"Hi what can I get you?" The worker asked.
"Hi just a small popcorn and a water please." I stated.
"Alright. Here you go." He said handing me the food and drink.
"How much is it?" I asked preparing myself to pay.
"Uh. Ma'am this is a premier. You're on VIP. You don't need to pay." He said softly.
"Oh sorry. I didn't know. I'm new to this whole thing. This is my first event."
"It's all good. Hope you have a good night."
"Thank you. Hope you do too." I said smiling. I walked back to my seat and waited for the movie to start. I decided to text milo since I had no one to talk to.
lanie:
     milo, i'm scared. i don't know what to do. how am i supposed to act? like am i supposed to talk to people?

milo:
lanie, chill. you'll be fine. just relax unless the agent says you need to get interviewed you should be fine. let me know it goes. I can't wait to see the reactions of the people when your song plays. I am so proud of you Lanie. ❤️

       thanks milo💞 i wouldn't have gotten this opportunity without you.

I turned my phone on do not disturb and put it in my purse as the movie began. The movie was amazing and I was hooked from beginning to end. As the movie ended, I heard my song beginning to play. I could hear people behind me saying "wow this song is really good" or "it's really catchy" and I couldn't help but smile. Suddenly, the producers and director came out and began saying their thanks to everyone who showed up for the premier. They thanked the cast and the team helping behind the scenes and to my surprise they thanked me.
"A few weeks ago, when we were still finalizing the film and the soundtrack, an old friend of mine sent me a demo with a track which you all heard during the end credits. I'd like to personally thank Lanie Adalair who I felt perfectly captured the feelings that Arthur and Mera felt. I was so grateful that she had this talent was able to share it with us. Lanie? Where are you? Could you stand up for us?" I stood up shocked and waved at everyone as people began to cheer for me and congratulate me. "Thank you Lanie for helping us and this will not be your last feature. Welcome Lanie to the music industry and will you all give a round of applause to the music industry's newest breakout sensation!" They stated. I tried to contain myself but I couldn't help but leak some tears as I waved to everyone. As I left the theater, I saw the guy that gave me my popcorn.
"Hey! I just wanted to know if you had a good night!" He asked me.
"I did. And it was one of the best nights I've had in a long time." I told him.
"I'm glad. Be safe okay?" He said.
"I will." I smiled. I walked to my car and drove off. Luckily, I wasn't too well known yet and I had my privacy for the time being.

I saw everything Lanie! I'm so proud of you. Your song is streaming everywhere. Everyone can't get enough. And just wait when people watch in theaters, everyone is going to know your name.

Thanks milo. I just don't know if I'm ready to give up my life. I want to live a normal life you know.

I know. It's something you'll have to get used to. But hey, you'll have me to help you.

I hung up the phone and began driving to the place I was staying at. I was really going to miss California. And I was going to miss Milo.

"Lanie Skylar Adalair!" I walked up to the podium to grab my diploma. I was finally done with college and I was ready to move back to California and work with a record label. I smiled as I walked off stage and saw my sister and my parents sitting in the audience looking as proud as they ever could be. After the graduation ceremony was over, I ran to my family hugging them.
"I'm so proud of you Lanie! I knew you could do it." My mom said with tears in her eyes. I graduated college at 21 and was excited to move to LA for all of the music opportunities I would get.
"I have news for you guys." I told them as they stared at me. "I'm getting featured on Dancing with the Stars to perform one of my songs."
"Lanie! That's great!" My sister said as my family hugged me. "Do you know which episode?"
"I'm not sure! My agent said I'll be performing on the first episode of the All-star season. I'm heading down to LA to start my career tomorrow."
"Lanie, me and your mom have a graduation present for you." My dad said as he handed me a box.
"What's this?" I asked pulling a key out from the box.
"You remember that house you and your sister stayed at all those years ago?" He said as I shot up. "We bought it for you. We figured you'd be moving to LA and thought you'd like to have the house for good."
"Mama. Papa. Come here. You too Sammy." I said pulling them into a hug as tears welled up in my eyes. "I love you guys so much."
"Good thing is the house came furnished so we don't have to buy all new furniture!"
"I can't wait. And you guys have no excuse to not visit me then." I explained smiling.
