arthur's pov

"Holiday. You are going to regret ever leaving me." I said picking up the broken tracker staring into the distance.

milo's pov

I walked into my room and slammed the door and snuck under my comforter. I just didn't understand why Mason let her in. Even after she did all this to me and Lanie. I refused to come out of my room even when Owen came up. I eventually put a chair underneath the knob to prevent them from opening the door. I was done with communicating with them. I just wanted to be alone.
"Milo. Please let me in. I need to explain what Holiday told me." I heard Mason beg through the door.
"No Mason. I don't want to hear it. Whatever she did and why she did it doesn't matter. She ruined some of the best things I had going in my life." I yelled through the door.
"Milo. I am not leaving until you open this door and let me in." I heard him say as he slid down my door. I thought he was going to leave until I heard him playing candy crush outside my door 30 minutes later. I got up and moved the chair and quickly opened the door resulting Mason in falling flat on his back on my bedroom floor.
"You know, a warning would have been nice." He told me getting up rubbing his head.
"Talk. I'm only letting you in so you can leave." I told him bitterly.
"Sheesh okay. Well, Holiday told me that she got in contact with one Lanie's ex boyfriends Arthur. She didn't know that Lanie dated him previously. But based on what she said, he was probably targeting her. You know, someone you dated before. Someone who was close with you at some point." He began to explain as I sat on my bed wondering if any of this was going to make sense. "But basically, she said Arthur forced her to do a lot of fucked up shit which included her kissing you and ruining you and Lanie's relationship."
"Mason. You are not helping." I told him not wanting to think about the event.
"She's in trouble. She just left him. Apparently, he had been tracking her every move and wants Lanie back. She's afraid of what could happen. That's why she came to us. She wants to fix things between you and her and you and Lanie." He blurted out.
"Do you think Lanie will believe me if we go over there and explain everything to her?" I asked him with a glimmer of hope.
"Maybe. It'll take some time but I think she will. We need to get past Lauren and Alan first." He told me.
"What are we waiting for then?" I asked. "Let's go to Alan's house and talk to him!" I said getting up to put my shoes on.
"We are waiting for you to take a shower and look presentable. Seriously Milo, you look like a caveman." He told me.
"Fine, I'll meet you downstairs." I took a shower and shaved and made sure I looked nice. I wanted to be confident and get Lanie back. I wasn't going to let Arthur get in between us. I was going to protect her. I was going to keep up my promises. I was going to show her that I was the guy she wanted. I was going to show her that I was the guy she loved and hopefully still loves. I slipped my shoes on and grabbed a locket that I had bought before we broke up. I was going to give it to her and hopefully if she took me back, I'd be able to give it to her and show her that I loved her and only her.
"Owen. He's finally ready." I heard Mason say.
"Okay. Let me go grab my keys." He said as me and mason walked out. I sat in the back seat as Owen drove. I was extremely nervous to talk to Alan. I didn't know if he was still going to beat me up or if was going to let me live to keep my promise. I sat nervously in the back of the car shaking my leg when Owen looked back and asked me, "Milo. You're going to be okay. We're going to explain everything. We're going to make things right." He told me. I nodded my head in agreement and stared out the window into the distance. I was ready to get my girl back. As we pulled into the neighborhood, I saw that Lanie added curtains to her balcony door. It wasn't open like it usually was. She had blocked out all possible sunlight that could enter. The house looked cold. As if her emotions could affect the weather and overall atmosphere. I got out of the car nervously as Owen knocked on Alan's door. When he opened it, his smile quickly turned to anger.
"Why the hell is the cheater here?" He asked bitterly.
"That's why were here. We have a lot to explain. Can we come in?" Mason asked.
"I guess." He said letting us in and glaring at me as I walked through the door. We sat down on his couch and I sat the farthest away from Alan. "Spill. What happened?" He asked.
"Well, it started earlier today when Holiday showed up at our house and told us that she had been dating one of Lanie's ex boyfriends. Apparently, he was using her to get Lanie back. It sounded like he had been targeting her for a while and used her as one of his pawns because of her history with Milo. He made her go to the studio and when the incident happened, he made her leak the story. She came over afraid because she had run away and threw her tracker. She's at our place right now. She's afraid that he's going to come after her." Mason told him.
"Please tell me you understand that I didn't want to or mean to hurt Lanie. I pushed her away. I had no idea what was happening. I didn't even kiss back." I said pleading with Alan.
"I believe you. First thing you guys need to do is to bring Holiday here. It's going to be weird but she'd be much safer at my house than she would be at yours." He told us.
"But, if he has eyes on Lanie, he would be able to tell that she's here. At least he doesn't know where we live. And it's farther from Lanie. He's most likely looking for her right now so she can do his dirty work." Owen said.
"Have you guys informed the police?" Alan asked.
"Not yet. We just found out today. And we don't have any concrete proof. Just allegations from Holiday." I said.
"Maybe Lanie has some? If he's been after her, then he must be doing something to get in her head." Alan suggested.
"Are they home? Can we see her and Lauren?" I asked getting up.
"Slow down Romeo. She still has to forgive you. I think it's best if you stay here. Me, Mason, and Owen will go over there and talk to Lauren first. Maybe she can ease us in and you can talk to Lanie later on once she's aware of the situation." Alan said sitting me back down.
"I'll call you Milo. You can listen in." Mason told me. I nodded as they left the house. I sat on the couch. I was hoping and praying that Lanie would understand. I was hoping she was alright.

lauren's pov

I was making me and Lanie a cup of tea when I heard a coded knock on the door. A coded knock that only me and my brother knew. We used to use it when we were kids so we could talk about very serious things. I opened the door slightly to see him, Alan and Mason on the front porch.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked them.
"We need to talk to you and Lanie about what happened." Mason said.
"It's not a good idea to talk to Lanie right now. She's uh still kind of upset about what happened." I told them.
"Lo, can we at least talk to you? It's really important. It's about Arthur." Owen explained to me when I remembered who exactly Arthur was. I had a flashback to when Lanie FaceTimed me after her first date with Arthur.

"Lo!! He's so nice. You know I wasn't sure about getting into a relationship after what uh happened but I think Arthur is really nice. I made sure he understood that I wanted to take things slow and he was really polite and nice about it."
"That's great Lanie! I'm glad. I'm so sorry for introducing you to Derek. Uh, I'm sorry. I know you don't like hearing his name."
"Lauren. What happened happened. It hurt a lot and I had a lot of traumatic experiences from that. But I'm better now. I have a better headspace and I think I can tackle the world. I'm not going to let him stop me. I'm not going to let him be the end of the world. I am a strong woman and I have you to thank for that."
"I'm glad you're having a good time. Make sure to update me okay? I love you Lan!"
"Love you too Lo! I'll text you later! I miss you so much!!"
"I miss you too."

"Lo?" My brother asked me snapping me out of my flashback as the three of them were still standing outside.
"Sorry. Yeah come in but be really quiet. Go into the guest room downstairs while I bring Lanie some tea. I think she might be getting a little bit sick." I said letting them in quietly. They crept in as I grabbed the tea mug and walked up to Lanie's room. I knocked on the door before dropping the mug and screaming. Her balcony door was open and the room was torn to shreds. "ALAN! MASON! OWEN! COME UP HERE QUICKLY! NOW!" I yelled beginning to cry.
"Lo, what's wrong?" I heard Alan ask as they ran up the stairs.
"Her room! She's gone! Her things are missing. How did she manage to leave so quickly without any of us knowing!"
"Is it possible that she left before we came?" Owen asked.
"I have no idea but where could she have gone? Oh god. This is all my fault. I was supposed to protect her." I said beginning to cry on her bed.
"Where would she go? Lo, come on you need to help us if you want to find her." My brother asked me.
"Her house. Not this one. The one in Alamo. She told me when she was at school and she was sad she's always want to run away and go home. She's probably going home to run away from this problem. You guys need to go there." I told them.
"Okay. We need to go now then." Mason said.
"Okay let me go pack my things." I said getting up.
"Lo. We can't go. We have work." Alan said stopping me.
"I can't work! I need to find my best friend!" I screamed.
"Lo. Well find her. As for now, you need to go with Alan and focus on work. We will update you on what we find okay?" My brother said as I nodded. I hugged Alan as they ran out and left.
"Please let her be alright." I said sobbing into Alan's chest.
